Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont - March 4th, 2008

If McCain can run at 71/72 years old, Hillary can run again in 2012 or even 2016, right?

She doesn’t seem to take bad news very well…

I doubt it. Too many of the Powers That Be in the Democratic Party feel (with some justification) that she’s already passed the point where she should have bowed out to enable Obama to focus his attention on winning in November.

It’s up, showing Clinton 50%, Obama 44%.

Burlington Free Press reports that Obama is ahead in Vermont with 60% to Hillary’s 34%.

He has been closing the gap everyday in the last 2 weeks in Ohio. Margin of error being around 4, that race is neck and neck, and by this time next tuesday expect Obama tied or ahead. Further, if he simply ties her in Ohio and takes TX, RI, VT it’s over. Hell if he ties her across the board it’s over.

The polls I’ve been able to find so far show Clinton leading Obama in Rhode Island by double digits – 17% according to Rasmussen, 12% according to ARG.

This articleposes some stark contrasts between the two campaigns:

Wow.

It’s the stuff that wins elections. Plain and simple. Clinton didn’t even file a full slate in Pennsylvania because she didn’t even think it would go that far. Talk about WOW!

Ok, that’s funny. I just talked to her on the phone on Sunday! I’m also part of the MyBO community, and partnered with someone who was trying to raise $1,000 for Obama. She had already collected about $200, so I pledged to match each additional increment of $18 with $5 worth of Obama supplies, up to $220, half going to Texas and half going to Ohio. When I called the Columbus office on Sunday to find out what they need most*, I got Valli on the phone.
(*For the record, they’re desperate for bumper stickers and ask that they be ordered through www.demstore.com and sent to the Columbus office.)

She knows this is it for her.

There are too many other just as, or even more so, prominent women already in the wings to become the first female PotUS. Women with much better resumes and much, much more likeable personalities. One of whom(I hope), Gov. Sebelius of Kansas, very likely could already be in the White House in '09 as Obama’s VP.

I’m sure this won’t be Hillary’s last effort, but it certainly is her last chance. Any hope she once had of rebounding in later elections, has been left on the other side of what’s left of the bridges destroyed in the wake of fire she’s left on this campaign trail.

I think her best bet now is to do like Ted Kennedy and become a real force in the Senate, rather than just using it as a means to her end.

My birthday’s March 6. I wonder if Hillary will concede on my birthday, or the day before.

Happy birthday to me!

Not sure where to put this, or even if it deserves its own thread, but the Obama website is showing [del]998,641[/del] [del]998,665[/del] 998,700 donors! I bet he gets 1M by the time I wake up in the morning!

She could do a heck of a lot of good there. She’s not so much on working in front of the scenes because there’s so much baggage attached to her name, but she might make a really excellent Majority Whip.

Wow, I guess I am one in a million after all.

He passed the mark of 1,000,000 donations (or maybe donors) at about 4:45 am eastern time.

GObama

GO BAMA!!! YAY!!!

I was thinking about this on the way to work this morning. That’s a full third of a percent of the entire US population. Pure awesomeness.

i really don’t think he’ll have any problems beating McCain. And with McCain publicly apologizing yesterday for the conservative asshole who opened for him slandering Obama - I think the pot is ever sweeter.

I’ll say it again – the New England Patriots’ juggernaut looked like having the perfect season end with a perfect win in the Super Bowl, and we know how that turned out.

I’m as gung-ho for Obama as anyone (well, maybe not everyone), but I won’t believe it’s won till the last returns come in on Election Day.

I respect McCain for so emphatically disavowing that goofball rally-warmup guy. I really think McCain will try to keep the campaign on the high road… but there will be plenty of 527s and uber-conservatives who, in desperation, will try to win ugly like Bush/Rove.

Clinton didn’t land the knockout blow she needed in the debate last night, IMHO (not that I really ever thought she could). Don’t know why both Russert and Williams needed to be involved, but I thought Obama came through just fine. I think there’s a real chance he could win all four states on Tuesday.

My wife’s birthday is March 6, too. We could all get a nice birthday present with a Clinton withdrawal!

Agreed. Clinton isn’t even out of the race yet. I’m not going to celebrate his victory until the absolute last vote is counted.
