With utter morons like J.C. Fugate (pronounced, no doubt as “Ju-ayee See Fyew-gay-ut”) and squalidly inbred dens like Rhea county, I know that there are places that make the most backward parts of my own state look like paragons of progress.
I think this non sequitur needs a link.
Old news, old news.
<HO-Hum!>
Asa I’ve said before, the dimwits in Rhea County do this kinda crap every year.
Makes 'em feel like big wheels to see their names in the paper.
RL trolls is all.
So, DNFTTs.
Those people are idiots.
Unfortunately, their similary bigoted relatives live in South Carolina. We currently have a bill in the Senate (passed the House!) to prohibit recognition of legal rights for same-sex partnerships.
Sweet Jesus on andro, that pissed me off when I heard it on the news a few days ago. I’m going to get myself good and ticked about it again this weekend, and open a can of whoop-ass on my senators (via email, of course). Assholes.
Firstly, fuck you for the insinuation that Southern accents somehow equate with the ignorance found in Rhea County. As someone who was born and raised only two or three counties from there, I don’t appreciate your bigoted implications.
And secondly, I seriously doubt that your state, even if it’s a progressive haven like California, does not have similarly reactionary counties in it. Yes, the denizens of Rhea County who support what’s going on there are idiots and deserve the mockings they have been getting for their ignorant behaviour but to try to paint them as being alone in their opinions on the matter is … well, just as ignorant.
Aesiron–Howdy from Rutherford County, TN. I have the same opinion of most of the South as Doggy, & I’ve lived here for years. Wanna hear me sing fucking “Rockytop”?
I feel the same way about the South as a whole as both you and Dogface, which is why I left. The only things I was taking offense at were his his or her slams on the Southern dialect as being unedecuted and that Rhea County, by being in Tennessee, is somehow full of in-breds.
If you didn’t take offense by being grouped in with the fuckwits in Rhea County by his/her all-inclusive stereotypes, more power to you but I, for one, don’t appreciate being compared to them in any shape, form, or fashion.
Who the fuck is Spalding Gray?
The only good thing about the anti-Southern sentiment that’s so incredibly pervasive in the U.S. is that it keeps a lot of assholes from coming here.
Ahem.
“Neil Young should remember
Southern Man don’t need him around anyhow”
Didn’t prop 26 that recently passed in California ban SSM’s or somethin’? Seems lak I heerd that som’ers.
And there are indeed residents in Rhea County that have liberal viewpoints. The earlier vote to run gays out of the county has been withdrawn.
The next time you hear someone judge a person’s intelligence by the way he pronounces his words, ask yourself where the real ignorance lies.
It’s: “Who the fuck was Spalding Gray”.
Why do so damn many of them show up in Florida?
It’s New York City’s 5th borough, Longer Island.
Plus, twimc, before mocking a Southerner’s speech patterns, try spending some time speaking to a 10th generation New Englander, or anyone from Minnisota. Yeah, and Vinny from the Bronx. Face it, where ever you live, outsiders sound different. Some places not radically so, but still…
They don’t consider Florida a part of the South.
Seeing how there are five boroughs now (Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island), which one is Florida replacing?
Northern Florida is southern; it’s just southern Florida that’s northern.
I’m kinda in the middle but on the Gulf coast—I guess I must be a mid-westerner with a salt water fetish. (MOST of the real, live, honest-to-God Assholes here come from points more northern than our northernmost state, excluding Alaska.)
Ah… Quebec.
Santa?
And having grown up in Jacksonville, I can confirm the Southernness of northern Florida. Heck, Lynyrd Skynyrd came from Jacksonville.
