Thank Og for the SDMB!

**Or in which my entire three storey town house is completely engulfed in the most hideously odiferous stench I have ever experienced. **

So my lovely dog apparently ate something evil in the garden which seriously disagreed with his digestive tract. The poor guy had a severe case of explosive diarrhea all over the light salmon carpeting of my bed room. God only knows what he ate, but it was the foulest smelling poop I’ve ever encountered in my entire life. It smelled worse than a decomposing corpse. To give you an idea of the pungency of the emission, my bedroom is upstairs and down a hall from the entry to my house but the second I opened the front door, I started to heave. And then I remembered the recent thread on coffee grounds eliminating foul odors. I don’t drink coffee but thankfully I had purchased some for visitors. And it worked! I still had to put Vicks under my nose in order to clean it up (a 2 hour job and I will still be renting a carpet cleaner tomorrow) but the coffee really helped. I put a cookie sheet in every room (it was that bad) and my home is now virtually stench free. You guys saved my life. Thanks, Dopers!

In an up-side of this horrific incident, I’m contemplating repackaging the coffee and donating it to my evil boss’s coffee supply…

Careful… that could be grounds for termination.

groan…

Here’s a thought for ya. You find a source for buying coffee wholesale. You repackage it in say, eight ounce jars and market it as “Surly Chick’s Miracle Four Odor Eliminator” and make an infomercial. You’ll be rich, cause, apparently people will buy anything if they see it in an infomercial.
A mere thirty percent of your gross (not net) earnings will be compensation enough for this brilliant business strategy.

Let’s tweak this bidness strategy a bit and say “Surly Chick’s Foul Odor Elimator”, shall we? :smack:

Well, ya gotta ask yourself, how many surly chicks are even going to admit to having a foul odor? Or care, for that matter?

Note to self: Coffee and cookies at Surly Chick’s house is RIGHT out.

Is your dog likely to eat the coffee?

I anticipated that event and placed the coffee on surfaces too high for him to reach. That’s all I need is caffeine hepped up, poop-spraying canine.

In other odiferous news, I’m wearing a blouse today that was exposed to the emissions yesterday via a slightly ajar wardrobe door. Apparently, cotton is also a good odor absorbent…

For future reference, vinegar is another good odor absorber. We had a stinky microwave incident at work some years back - truly vile! But the boss suggested we pour some vinegar in some plates and leave them overnight. Next morning, there was a slight hint of vinegar in the air, but it cleared fast, and the nasty odor was gone.

And no, we don’t keep vinegar in the office - someone ran to the grocery store down the road and got a bottle.
