Thank you, Terrorists

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the wonderful people who called in the Antrax threat to South Station. I get a paid day off! I worked 2.5 hours, i’m getting paid for 12. Not a bad deal. plus, we got to stand out in the cold for 3 hours! Course, business wise we’re screwed…we made $50 tops today in sales, and lost all the food that went bad, and all the labor hours…but oh well. Thank you, terrorists. You made my day.

<Yawn>

So, Pammipoo, can’t you find anything else to talk about in the Pit, other than your crappy fast food job? Some asshole called in an anthrax scare and you can’t find anything more profound to comment on other than the fact that you got paid for more hours than you actually worked?

Your constant crapola about your job reminds me of The Onion’s Jean Teasdale complaining about “Hubby Rick” and “The Fashion Bug.” Get a life!

Pammipoo makes a point I’ve been wondering about. There must be an enormous amount of time and money lost over the last month due to not only people having to evacuate buildings, but people not being able to focus on work.

Violet, if you’ve been wondering about this, wonder no more. Yes, of course there’s an enormous loss to business from evacuations, changes in consumer behavior and emotional impact on the nation’s workers over the past month.

Does Pammipoo’s post make any sort of intelligent comment on the economic impact of the attacks? No. She thanks the terrorists for a “paid day off.” Because for Pammipoo the world revolves around her fast food job. Or so she would have us believe…

There are many more. I’m just tired of watching Pammipoo start threads that consist entirely of bitching about how events affect her crappy fast food job.

Well, you know, for many people, their jobs are a major part of their lives. When bad things affect something that is a major part of people’s lives, some of them like to vent about it.

I don’t know about you, but the “Not a bad deal. plus, we got to stand out in the cold for 3 hours!” gave the impression that the thank-you was sarcasm.

THespos-go to hell, okay?

[hijack] South station? Huh…if only I’d known. I worked at 125 High St. all summer. We could have done lunch.[/hijack]

Alright THespos, you seem to be a tad clueless on something, so let me fill you in. On the forum page, right next to were it has the subject, there’s a box for the topic starter. If my posts annoy you so much, feel free not to read any topic started by Pammipoo. I promise, I won’t be offended if you don’t reply.

My life is pretty boring…I get up, I go to work, I come home, check the SDMB, and go to bed. I don’t read the papers or watch news to make sure nothing worse than my life is happening elsewhere in the world. I work in food service. It’s a shitty job, but hey, somebody’s got to do it. Otherwise, you’d never be able to grab a burger on the way home from your assumingly very important job, or grab a slice of pizza in the mall. I put on a happy face all day, I deliver great service. My employees love working for me, we all have a good time. If I have a bad day, I grin and bear it. And when I get home, I do a pit post, because it makes ME feel better. Am I one dimensional? Yes. Am I selfish? Yes. Do I care? Not really. If you don’t like what I have to talk about, I heartedly invite you to stop reading when you see my name. I’m sure if I cared enough to do a search on your name, I’d find tons of meaningless posts too. Everyone has them. It’s part of what makes the SDMB such a great community, we’re all so diverse, and have different experiences to add. I’m 19 years old, and work in food service. My experiences are pretty limited.

And FTR, Kat was right. I was being sarcastic. Had I been gloating over getting a day off, I wouldn’t have chosen to put it in the pit.

Guin - Nice drive-by post. It’s what I’ve come to expect from you. All emotion, no substance.

Pammipoo - Fair enough that I don’t have to read your posts, but your fast food threads are clearly cluttering up the place, and I do feel I have the right to flame you on it. If I came here every day and posted about how every current event affect my advertising job, SDMBers would probably do the same to me.

Incidentally, I’m not the first to flame Pammipoo for the deluge of fast food threads. I realized last night that schief2 pretty much summed up my position in this thread.

If that pretty much sums up your position, then I must say it is a pretty sad position to have. Why do you care what she decides is important to complain about? Is your life so much better then to ever have some steam to blow off?
Do her rants really need to cater to you and your desire to see more profanity and colorful revenge fantasies? You didn’t bring these things up, but if your position is the same as schief2’s, then it seems this is what you are asking for.
In all those links I saw a hell of a lot more support for her rants and not much as far as opposition. You are entitled to your opinion, but you look like an asshole.

gtzaskar00 - I never said that anyone’s posts have to cater to me, but keep in mind the purpose of the board: eradicating ignorance. Tell me how that purpose is served when I keep seeing the same freaking thread posted by the same person, over and over.

All right, so maybe I was a little harsh, but I feel entitled to point it out when rants are overly repetitive.

Oh, and since this is the Pit, fuck you.

You never said a rant had to cater to you, but the post you claimed summed up your position did. As far as ignorance, this may be a stretch, but I am completely ignorant when it comes to the ins and outs and crappiness of having to work the food industry. I have had my share of bullshit jobs, but never in the food industry, and I find her posts, as do others, to be an insight into the shittiness of that particular job.
She could probably accomplish the bitching she does in one big rant, but I would imagine the steam she needs to blow off builds up everyday.
Is she inspiring any of us to have an epiphony in our thinking of fast food, probably not, but she is ranting, and I do believe that is the pupose of the pit.
Oh, and eat shit, served with no garlic, and with no silverware because someone forgot to order it.

I just want to thank the fucking terrorists, too.

My darling wife works for a large government agency as the secretary to a division director. As part of her job, she opens all mail delivered to that director. As with all government agencies, a certain percentage of hate mail is received. She is very concerned (read terrified) about the anthrax spores being delivered through the mail. This morning, when she asked the fucking division director what, if any, steps were being taken to insure the safety of mail handling employees, the brilliant fucking jerk replied: “You know, I hadn’t even thought of that.” Too busy worrying about important stuff, I presume.

Because of the impact this shit has had on my wife’s peace of mind, I have gone from believing we could find a peaceful solution to now believing we should kill every last damn one of the rotten, lousy bastards in as painful and public a way as possible. Given the opportunity and some reasonable assurance of guilt, I believe that I could and would perform the duty personally.

Yeah, it’s a stretch. I don’t buy it.

Okay, so the fast food service industry thoroughly sucks. I don’t need to be reminded of it constantly.

And while the Pit is definitely the forum for ranting, usually Dopers tend to chime in with constructive thoughts subsequent to a rant. I think I can improve on the OP. Here goes…

People really need to educate themselves about anthrax. Otherwise, we’re all in deep doo-doo. My little sister was directly across from the NBC building in NYC when they had their anthrax scare. She was at Christie’s picking up some paintings that her art gallery had bought at auction. When she got there, she received several phone calls from people at the art gallery that caused her unneeded stress. People were saying stuff like “Get out of there, that place is contaminated with anthrax!” Sis had no idea that anthrax can’t be passed through the air like other diseases, so she had a Grade A freakout. Maybe if she and her coworkers knew more about the disease, they would have realized that someone across the street was in more danger from panic than from the disease itself. Thanks to CNN and other news organizations that are running educational pieces on anthrax so that people don’t run screaming from their freaking houses when they hear that such-and-such building down the street might have received an envelope with some white powder in it.

There. That accomplished the objective - blowing off steam while giving the Teeming Millions something to think about. Get it?

THespos, I really like you because of some of your comments from other threads (you’ve obviously got a good mind) but I’ve gotta respectfully disagree with you here.

I might disagree with WHAT someone says in a post and battle 'em on it but never will I disagree with their right TO say it.

There are one or two posters at SDMB that I find either boring or just plain irritating. If they start a thread I’ll just skip it. It’s that easy. That way I don’t run the risk of feeling bad later about a “fuck you” or an “eat shit”.

Sorry for the 2 cent hijack… please carry on.

Well, actually, I’d like to think that most of us would be more considerate than that.

But you wouldn’t know about that, would you.

  • Jonathan “Tired of people thinking the Pit means a lack of manners is acceptable” Chance

Hey, I’m not trying to censor anyone here. Furthermore, I think I’m entitled to point it out when I think someone’s ranting is a bit repetitive or needs a bit more substance. Anyone disagree?

I think you’re being a particularly large penis, THespos. I really can’t think of a good reason why this would be such a big deal to you that you would have to respond 6 times to this thread. Are you compelled to show us how super special you are, that you don’t like hearing people bitch about the same things over and over again?

Well, sir, I think you should just shut up and let her have her say. Do you bust Sua Sponte’s chops because he responds to law threads? No. Do you bust Esprix’s chops because all he posts are gay threads? No. I think what I’m getting at here is pretty clear.

In only six posts you have shown us all how truly tired you really are. Find something more important to bitch about, OK?

Thank you, and take a hike.
