Thank You

Just wanted to post to say thank you very much to the Dopers who have sponsored me for the Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. For those who don’t know my son lost his battle with leukemia on August 1, 2008; he was 2 years old. My wife, 2 oldest children, and me have decided to participate in the annual Light the Night Walk again this year. So, again, THANK YOU very much to those of you have donated to the cause. It means a lot. It reinforces my belief that there are still kind, caring people in this world.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m glad some of us Dopers were able to help you.

I’m very sorry about the loss of your little boy. Peace be with you.

I wish the best and healing for your family, and so very sorry for your immense loss, Redfrost.

To the rest of us: There’s never a bad time to become a bone marrow donor, either. Or, at least donate some cash.

So sorry about your son, Redfrost.

Canadians may donate blood stem cells, bone marrow, etc, through http://www.blood.ca/. I’ve been a donor for, um, quite a while (blood and platelets), and I’m on the list for bone marrow, but I’ve never gotten past second-stage blood testing for that.

Thank you for your condolences. Most days are okay but every Thursday and Friday SUCK:mad::frowning: My wife is taking it especially hard. She is much better than she was 3 weeks ago. She spent the most time with him. She literally lived in his hospital room for the entire length of his stay. She was with him when he passed. If you are interested in reading about my son or contributing to the light the night walk you can visit his caringbridge site at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/matthewfaulkner Thanks again folks. You’re a great bunch of people.

I also want to thank those that donated. Just couldn’t see your goal not be met after all you’ve been through. SDMBers are good people.

Matthew and his journey touched me in a way I’ll never forget, and I wish you peace, sir.

Oh, I am so sorry. :frowning:
FTR, I am on the marrow donor registry.

Thanks again everybody. Signing up to be a bone marrow donor is a great thing, there are many that need. Matt made it to transplan the 1st time but he relapsed within a month. He was doing well and then went in for a routine visit only to find that he had some serious respiratoy problems. He was admitted and 2 days later was sent to the PICU. He was about 12 days in the PICU on an oscillator. He recovered from that only to die about a month later. Apparently, I’m having a bad day. After visiting his caringbridge site today, I don’t feel up to dealing with work but here I am. Just to update, if you want to sponsor the Light the Night Walk, you’ll have to visit the previous journal entry. Sometimes I just feel so cheated. He was doing well (end of June 08) only to died a month a half later. I miss him so much it hurts. :frowning:

Redfrost, I’m so very sorry about your son. I wish you peace.
