Thanks for Nothin'! November Mini-Rants

@digs: Oh yes, for sure it’ a much larger deal for women. Precisely because it is relatively rare prior to extreme old age. So when it occurs early it suggests something is wrong with her. Both to her and to others seeing her.

Today has been Very Monday. Woke up early, thought I could get to work early, ended up getting there at the usual time. Broken traffic light, had to go a different way, construction everywhere. But the worst thing is, I had a chocolate donut for breakfast, and I left it at home.

I don’t know if this should go under Marketplace; my mini-rant involves buyers on Facebook’s Marketplace.
If you want to save my item, just use the “save” button - you don’t need to send me an, “Is this still available?” DM, so I get all excited that my item is selling and then I never hear from you again. (I block all the fuckers who do this.)
Do I have more pictures? I posted six pictures - what more do you want? A picture of me with my head stuck in the nightstand? Fuck off.
What are the dimensions? RTFA. (Read the fucking ad.)
What colour is it? RTFA.
What part of the city am I in? RTFA.
Can I deliver it? Maybe. Depends on where you’re located and how much of a dick you’re being about it.
You’ll pick it up on Wednesday? What time? Oh, I’ll text you before I come over. B*tch, I have a life. Give me an exact time and I’ll be home then. If not, I’ll just live my life.
I sold it to someone else after you didn’t show up and your fee-fees got hurt? Fuck off.
To the couple of people who showed up EARLY IN THE MORNING WHILE I WAS STILL SLEEPING, that was not the agreed-upon time! Fuck off!
And, last but not least, the people who agree to buy my item for the listed price, show up at the right time, then proceed to haggle with me at the door. Fuck all the way off, then when you get there, fuck off a bit more.
Thanks, I needed that.

Goddamn, I forgot one more - Facebook Marketplace and their “no selling weapons” rules. I tried to sell a Smith & Wesson pen. It got blocked, I got warned. I asked for an appeal, they denied my appeal. For fuck’s sake, read the actual ad on appeal!

That is not a mini rant! That deserves a thread of it’s own!

It’s only worth its own thread if SOME RAT BASTARD who is ALREADY WAY OVER PRIVILEGED BY BEING ABLE TO WORK FROM HOME proceeds to scarf down said donut.

Mightier than the sword?

We’ve officially crossed the threshold of “too fucking cold.” I went for a walk this morning and mostly held up, but my face was numb by the time I got home. Now I’m sitting inside my own house being cold. I have been telling myself I need to take my kid outside for a walk as soon as the bus drops him off, but I really don’t want to go outside any more today.

If you happen to take medication for high blood pressure, spironolactone has a side effect of stimulating hair growth in women. My doc recommended it when I went in for blood pressure medication and happened to mention thinning hair.

I thought I had my sinus infection well under control.

Woke up this morning with… another fucking cold! That’s #3 without a break.

My sleep is not good, and because it’s that time of the month, I can’t eat anything without feeling ill.

I was all set for a walk this balmy 15F morning, but I hear that can exacerbate sinus inflammation. What a shame I have to stay indoors.

I’m gonna’ whine here: I’m really tired of driving almost an hour one way to the hospital every day. I will continue doing it because I like to see him and he wants me there. However, I’ve never beena big fan of driving long distances. Since he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s I do all the driving. I do not know how people do long commutes; my hat is off to those who do as I find it exhausting.

In other news they are putting the feeding tube back in today. He is aspirating even thickened beverages. He keeps thinking they’ll let him come home, but it he’s going to inpatient rehab he has to go right from the hospital to the facility. Insurance won’t let him come home and then go. This all sucks. End/rant/whine

That does all suck.

As someone who has done a lot of long commutes, I enjoy podcasts (I have a billion recommendations if you want them), putting together special playlists (you could even have one called, “Parkinson’s sucks!” with songs that seem relevant to your life right now.) I have one playlist about advocacy and service which revs me up for my job, and I have one for when I’m pissed off at my Mom. There are also audiobooks, which many people swear by. I don’t do those because I’m constantly getting distracted from what I’m listening to and would have to rewind it forty times. I just wonder if it would help to think of this commute time as “you” time, which you probably don’t get a lot of.

Along with podcasts, I’ll suggest audiobooks. Long drives tire me out: I think it’s just the physical concentrating that my eyes and brain have to do for such a long period. I haven’t said anything sympathetic yet about your husband but this is a good time: I’m sorry you’re going through all that and I hope he comes through okay.

@Sylvanz, I haven’t said anything about your husband either, because every time I read about what’s happening with you guys, I say, “Damn”, and go do something else for a while. :grimacing:
I really wish you guys the best, I’m sorry you’re going through this nightmare.

Still trying to get employed. Finally I am to get one at a nursing home, its 16 hours a month. Better than nothing and walkable. I’m supposed to get a physical, and I’m pretty sure training isn’t paid. I asked if it was and she said, We’ll talk.
Also, is there a male out there who doesn’t have to be right about everything, and if you disagree, he says he’ll argue til he wins? That would actually be my ex, with ms, who used to tell me," You’re right"a lot, but not going back there.

I appreciate the comments, support, and suggestions. I did discover that my car has sirius radio and I’ve listened to Xmas music and comedy. I will have to get my kids to explain how to do podcasts and audio books on my phone. I used to do audio books on tape when I went to college 20 years ago, but I obviously don’t have a player of any sort in my car now. It’s just nothing I’ve needed until now.

He’s doing well today, and they’re hoping to get him to Mary Free Bed tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Again thank you all for your support.

There is a Donald Trump calendar.

They’re nice, you can download hours of content ahead of time and listen as you drive. It’s even better if you have a newer car that the phone can plug into and you can control it from steering wheel buttons.

Most public libraries have large collections of audio books that can be borrowed online and downloaded to your phone. If your phone doesn’t talk to your car, put your phone speaker down into your cup holder to amplify the volume.

Just found out that a friend’s son (about six months old or so) has bacterial meningitis and is in the ICU. I feel so helpless and worried for the whole family. They have the medical bills and the sleepless nights and whether he’ll have long term effects, and I’m literally about as far away as I can be while still being in the same country. It’s not a good feeling.
