Thanks Kelly Clarkson - now every fuckwit is saying "jaded".

Always glad to spread the apathy around anytime you need it… yup, that’s me.

(actually, if I was on my home computer… I perhaps wouldn’t even bother to go look it up on Google… but this is the fast computer… MWAHAHAHA :p)

Okay, that’s the second reference I’ve seen Flami make to “the fast computer”. Sorry for th’ hijack, but – hey! Good friend! When are ya goin’ to start a thread to tell us about it, huh??

Signed: a person intrigued from th’ South.

Dear Ice Wolf,

This fast computer isn’t worth a thread simply because it’s my dad’s computer. He and my mom are away for the weekend (yay!), and so I decided to take over this one while they were gone. The other fast computer (the one downstairs in the computer room) has problems with it… some kind of system configuration error thingy? Who knows… not me! (maybe Eric and Uncle Tim do, though!)

Now, if Vernon would actually get around to downloading good things to my P2 hard drive that he currently has… that MIGHT be worth a thread. Or perhaps not… though it might be faster for me than my current home computer! (a 486)

Hope that answers your question.

Thank you, Flami.

I can now rest easy tonight, knowing another unanswered question has been answered. Cool.

The unanswered question isn’t there anymore, simply coz it’s been answered. So can we really call it an unanswered question, even in the hypothetical mode? I don’t know…

(sorry, I’ve just had one 330 mL bottle of cranberry vodka Mex Crantini… tends to make me ramble more than usual)

Oh, I realized I only answered half the question. Jade is also a persona I used to play in a roleplaying chat room. Her story, what I wrote of it at the time, can be seen here, if anyone really cares that much.

Jade

Matchbox Twenty, “Bent”

Soul Asylum, “Runaway Train”

I find it odd that some here do not know who Kelly Clarkson is. Lord knows I haven’t followed her career the least bit closely and I haven’t watched the Reality Show Opal Cat is so bored to tears with:), but the woman’s been ALL OVER the news – radiophonic, televisual and printed. It simply puzzles me a bit that a few of you had never even heard of her. Can I surmise that the name Justin Guarini would elicit a blank stare?

[/Micro hijack]

She’s been mentioned ad infinitum and ad nauseum on this message board, too, but if you’ve been really lucky you could have missed it.

Not “Pink” (Nine Lives, 1997). The Aerosmith song everyone’s mentioning is actually named “Jaded,” and it came out on Just Push Play, 2001. “Jaded” has Mila Kunis, from That 70’s Show in the video, “pink” had a lot of strange, altered images of the band and other assorted weirdoes walking/dancing in front of the camera against a white background. (And I think I have a bit of a crush on the naked green girl.)

Redundant. One cannot gorge lightly.

I agree with you wholeheartedly…choosing the right words, (not to mention using them and modifying them correctly) does indeed separate writers from hacks.

hacks up a lung

SEE the gigantic lung-hacker! Gorge lightly, folks, mind the lava …

“I think I lava you” David Cassidy.

Yeah… who is Justin Guarini?

I have TiVo, so I only watch the shows I have programmed in and I skip all commercials. I don’t listen to the radio. I don’t read magazines or newspapers. I watch CNN Headline News and BBC World News about 5 times a week but tune out the stuff during the Entertainment/Hollywood part because I don’t care.

I am not “bored to tears” with that show, as I’ve never seen it. I’m bored to tear with the idea of shows like that. I’ve never watched American Idol–I don’t like singing talent contests so I never bothered.

As for reading this message board, I’ve only started doing so again in the last couple of days, after taking about 4 months off. Still not sure if I’m going to stay, actually…

See, Kelly Clarkson’s full name is more well known because she won the first AI, beating out Justin. She got the recording contract and all that; Justin got diddly. Until the Honchos realized they had Chemistry together and put them both in a movie.

Umm… it seems to me that ‘jaded’ doesn’t really mean ‘bored’ at all.

Though I guess they are closer in meaning than the words ‘zebra’ and ‘toothpaste’ are.

A person who is bored might speak the following sentence:

“There is nothing on tv. I wish I had more channels.”

A person who is jaded might speak the following sentence:

“There is never anything on tv. I’ve seen it all before. It holds no interest for me anymore.”
I Love Me, Vol. I - I take it I’m the only person who wakes up in the morning and rubs her mouth on a stripey equine, then.

If I could find a black and white striped toothpaste, I’d use it.

I have always equated jaded with desensitization. I suppose that isn’t entirely accurate either.
