I do have to say that I dislike the straightdope Mods policy of not informing people when they are banned.
In this case it is obvious… but in some cases it isn’t clear what the offense was. And then they complain to me when they see me posting.

And 41 posts in 83 minutes? He had to have been automated to be able to write and code that fast(albeit with coding errors), right?
A) Why do they complain to you specifically?
B) I think it is always obvious why (and therefore when), perhaps not to the board at large, but surely to the bannee. If there’s no obvious final straw, they may have bent and stretched the rules for some time and not heeded warnings. Sometimes folks might get banned and not know why, but if they had bothered to read any of the six thousand stickies explaining the rules, then they would.
I think he deserves a trophy. It’d take me more than 83 seconds to write out all those color-changing codes in the middle of a delusional rant.
And methinks ‘delusional’ might be the key word here. It might possibly be the case that our errant poster was in the midst of some sort of ‘less-than-psychologically-normal’ (read: psychotic) state. It’s OK for the mods to ban him/her, but hanging-shit in this thread seems a bit cheap and nasty if indeed our banned poster was in the throes of losing the plot.

I’ve never heard of this policy. I read on here at least once that the person is emailed. That may vary from case to case, though, and it doesn’t seem like it was necessary here.

No, the nonsense lasted about 61 minutes. He might’ve gone psycho in that period between when he registered and now.
As evidenced here, he posted “normal” a few times then went batshit after not posting for two weeks.
Of course, I think anybody would go batshit without the SDMB for two weeks. I know I would.
That is really strange- his posts of before last night look reasonably normal. No mentions I can find of Mexico, ‘greys,’ or Pleadians. Did he lose his mind competely, or is someone at his house messing with him?
