Thanksgiving Menu Thread

It’ll be just me and Mr. S; he works every Thursday, so every Thanksgiving Day for the four years that he’s been at this job. I’m a little :frowning: that we don’t get the big family Thanksgiving gathering anymore (my mom’s in Texas, sister does her own thing [long story], Mr. S’s sibs are all grandparents with extended families of their own, ditto my aunts and uncles). I guess everyone assumes we have other plans. So we’re usually on our own.

So anyway, he works second shift. So I’m going to go run a Turkey Trot in the morning (5 miles, free shirt and 5" pumpkin pie!), and then I’ll make our dinner to enjoy at 11 pm when he gets home:

Glazed ham (mustard, brown sugar, apple juice, cloves)
Mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes combo
Corn and carrots
Green bean casserole
Garlic bread
A sassy little sparkling Shiraz
Apple-cranberry deep-dish pie

The menu is pretty much all Mr. S’s request; he’s not fond of traditional Thanksgiving fare. Fine with me; turkey is a mess and the ham is easy.

I’m on my own this year, but I jones bad for the full turkey dinner, so:

Turkey breast & gravy
Garlic mashed potatoes
Stuffing
Corn pudding
Brussell sprouts ‘n’ bacon per the recent thread on this subject
Cole slaw
Ice cream & raspberries

Anyone have a simple way to doctor up some Stove Top to make it marginally more special for Turkey Day?

I’m alone this year, So I’ll make what I damn well want, screw the Pilgrims

Braised leg of lamp, Roasted red Potatoes, garlic bread.

Diced apple makes a nice inclusion…

Something like this?

:smack:

Well, as I said , I’ll eat what I wanna eat, nobody can impose their rules on me.
