That 70s Show discussion thread

Eh. I remember back then and I smoked pot then too. I was past high school then, though. Yeah, some things are omitted. The kids would have spend Saturday nights watching SNL, and SNL catchphrases would have been floating around. And they probably would have seen Animal House too. Lots of other stuff too.

The thing about shows or films like this is, everyone had a different life. Like they do now. Even if you went through high school the same time I did, that didn’t mean you hung out with the same groups of people I did. Different schools had different clique cultures. I know this first hand cause we moved to a different state after my sophomore year.

As for Donna dumping Eric, don’t forget, they grew up next door since kindergarten. She knows what he’s like. And she probably enjoys being in the driver’s seat in their relationship. Remember when she turned brain dead while she was dating Kelso’s brother?

How about that episode where Bob annoyed Red, Midge was a fox, and there was a poster of Clapton (I think) playing an SG on the wall of Forman’s basement? That was a great one.

What was the deal with that? In real life how commonly does a person’s personality seem to change when they date someone new?

EDIT: entire personality.

Foggy memory time:

I seem to remember as a teen around that time period, that guys you would talk to, who seemed to be OK dudes, became total pricks when they finally got a GF they could push around. The flip side was even truer: nice enough girls who became complete harpies after they “landed a BF.” YMMV.

And do you remember that episode where Fes mispronounced something, and when the others didn’t understand, hollered Kiss my brown ass? Comic gold.

It still happens now even though I’ve never personally experienced it (as in friend getting boyfriend then turning nasty) Why does that happen? Is it the “I’ve got a boyfriend/girlfriend and it’s so exciting and spending time with my friends is no longer as exciting anymore” sort of “novelty value” feeling, if you know what I mean?

Probably some of that.

I would not dare to speak for the fairer sex, but maybe getting that new Boyfriend isn’t the Nirvana she expected? Such is life–to snag a fresh phrase.

This is unrelated but what do you think of “Red Sees Red” when Red

booby-traps the Forman house and puts locks on the front door

and Eric, Hyde and Laurie have a dream sequence based on the Brady Buch’s variety show?

Bunch’s.

Holy crap!

I just realized that Fenton and Dean Pelton from Community are the same actor, Jim rash, and kind of the same character.

Some of the Deans’ best moments.

I’ve never watched Community. But now I know where we can find an actor to play Dr. Venture should there ever be a live action version.

Interestingly, Jim Rash talked about his *Community *role on Reddit.

Your not the first to think of that. Go to 5:00 in this video. They even do a side-by-side of Jim and the good Doc.

Thanks for the link.

You’re welcome. Shame no-one asked him about T7S though. I would have.
