That annoyng "dance mix" rythm"

I just now became aware of the fact that Love Comes To Those Who Believe is the latest in long line of songs to be turned into a “dance mix” by some DJ. Who started this practice? Is it legal to torture him/her/them for it? This practice was kinda cool… in the early 80’s. Now it’s just hopelessly trite. Why do they ALWAYS, WITHOUT FAIL, put the same rythm in the background? Does this rythm have a name? And lastly, is this a copyright infringement of some kind, or does the artist actually give permission for it? Any answers?

–It was recently discovered that research causes cancer in rats.

Some songs just cannot be danced to without an added rhythm. No, seriously, just try dancing to popular music with no changes made to it.

I sold my soul to Satan for a dollar. I got it in the mail.

You Old Fart.

Some artists do nothing but make rhythm tracks for DJs to mix songs with. There are a few really popular ones that seem to get mixed into songs more than others. You should also realize that there aren’t a helluva lot of different ways you can beat on a drum, electronic or otherwise.

We cheat the other guys & pass the savings along to you!

Well, you can’t shake your moneymaker to any other rhythm but that one.

Speaking of, I heard on MTV that Britney Spears plans to cover “Satisfaction” (Yes, the Rolling Stones song, not some other “Satisfaction” as I thought) on her next album.

It’s called a cover, and it’s legal. Tough.

Answering one of the questions posed by the OP, I always just called it the “boom-tss-boom-tss-boom-tss” rhythm.

Heck is where you go when you don’t believe in Gosh.
