Does anyone remember a fizzy canned drink made from milk. It was called something like ‘Rivella’.
Do they still have it in the US? You can’t get it in England now.

Never heard of it in the US.
Dannon Yogurt once tried a drink called Dan-Up. Not fizzy, but even refrigerated it “tasted” warm. It mostly seemed like a glass of 4% milk that had been left out of the fridge. Gross.
It’s a Swiss drink. I had it when I lived there in the late 70’s. I’ve never seen it sold in any other country. Not sure if the Swiss still make it either.
They used to sell it in England a couple of years ago. It didn’t taste like it was made of milk–it tasted slightly like Tizer.
AFAIK it is still made (or was recently). We bought some in New Glarus, Wisconsin in September of 1999 when visiting there with some relatives from Switzerland. I haven’t been there since then to know if it they still sell it but it was for sale there a year ago.
For those who haven’t had it, it is better than you would expect a carbonated milk-derived beverage to taste (although that might not take much).
It seems to be a popular drink in Japan and other Asian countries. If you can’t find it in regular stores try going to Asian grocery stores or other stores that specialize in ethnic foods. It is sometimes called “white soda” and comes in a variety of flavors.
Ask, and ye shall receive:
The Japanese milk-based drinks have just a tiny bit of milk. I think they are very tasty. The commonest one is marketed as “Calpico” in the States and is available at most any Oriental grocery store (the Japanese version is “Calpis Water”; they changed the name for obvious reasons.) But my favorite is “White Water” - unavailable in the U.S. AFAIK.
