IMHO (although I figured this topic was best suited here)
Member groups?
Click on elmwood or What Exit’s name and look at the groups they’re in. Or just click on your own and look on the right hand side at “join user groups” and click on it.
ETA: Nevermind, it’s not there…dunno how you create one or access it, but if you find the members I listed above, they’ve made some and you can access it that way.

There. There’s the list of (so far) made groups.
I wonder if it’ll be disabled? I sure hope not, but that would be twice as much work for the mods now…modding the boards and the groups (since each group has a sounding board, of sorts).
I see you can set groups as “invite only”. Possibly good for support-type groups, but possibly bad for social groups. The latter seems a bit like “everyone’s on my ignore list by default.”
This is a very helpful addition to the board. And I hope that they keep it functional, even if we as members have to request a groups creation.
Has anyone figured out how to post a message in the group? So far every attempt I have made has failed.
The easiest access I have found to groups so far is after you click **User CP **it is available on the left hand side.
**Networking **
Contacts & Friends

How do you join a group?
Never mind. Join now is very small, but I found it!
I just created a group for mafia players.
That is a really nice feature, I sure hope it stays, but they might have to have a whole seperate mod just for the groups.
Maybe they can make it a feature for paying people?
I think this is controlled through the social networking part of vB which we do not currently have enabled.
As stated earlier we may or may not use certain functions of the vB system. Decisions on what we use will depend on how everything shakes out and what works best for the system as a whole.
So hang on and let Jerry get the board stable and operational with all the functions that we need day to day and then we’ll address other aspects.
Ditto. Of course, now it’s not giving us access to them at all, but I’ve created a group (if we’re actually allowed to keep them) for anyone interested that deals with mental health issues (IE: depression, anxiety, etc.). Everyone is welcome!
I don’t understand. Aren’t you, in effect, just starting a new subject heading? How would anyone even know these groups exist?
Well, looks like the groups have been disabled. Sadface. I still think it would be nice to have but I guess getting the boards squared away first is top priority.
I wanted to start one myself, but I’ll wait and see if TPTB decide it’s a useful function.
I think so. Kinda. But it did have a feature where one could leave a message and nothing I tried, like What Exit detailed, would work.
I’d hoped to use it like a ‘welcome wagon’ feature. Yanno, come on in and sit a spell. Hopefully it’ll come back.
I had hoped to use it as a place where those of us affected by different things could go and discuss them amongst ourselves. Autism, mental health etc all fine examples of what I was hoping we could have. I can understand it not being a “freeforall” where anyone can create a group but perhaps they can turn it back on and accept applications for groups or something.
I like the idea, too. Maybe if enough people wanted it…although I doubt a lot of members were able to see/access it before it was disabled so there’ll be a limited number knowing what we’re talking about, I’m guessing.
I am probably missing some critical aspect of this feature, but couldn’t you achieve the same goal just by starting a thread?
I think it’s one of those “you had to have seen it to understand how cool it is” features.
'Course, maybe I’m wrong and you’d still think it was pointless…
That’s why I’m guessing that nobody who had access to it will care either way but those who actually found them and looked around them (and even joined a group or two) would probably be for it because they were, indeed, pretty nifty. (just my opinion, though)
