That "Simple Man" cover

I like this cover of “Simple Man”.

The original is a great song by a great (and often underappreciated) band. I’m a big Skynyrd fan – “Simple Man”, “Tuesday’s Gone” and “Sweet Home” would probably all be in my top 10. So that’s where I’m coming from.

“Simple Man”, in particular, I think is a pre-cursor to a lot of the Grunge sound, notably, the dynamic change in the middle of it – something a la “over the hills and far away”.

The cover sounds like the work of someone who loves and respects the original, instead of someone just being told by The Man that covers are “hot” these days so they gotta have one on the new album. He does his own thing with it, but doesn’t stray too far from the source.

Note: I heard it was by"Shinedown". I can’t easily confirm this. AFAIK, I don’t know anything else by this band, or anything about them. I just think the cover is good.

Anyone else?

You’re right, it is by Shinedown.
