that Stranger On A Train

If you ask me, he had a weakness for taking sealion bait at a time when they were entering their gilded age on this board.

That’s not to excuse some of his rhetorical excesses, but I certainly get the frustration.

As I recall he stated that he had been homeless at one point.

Usually the things that cause a person to become homeless don’t just spontaneously resolve themselves.

He is deep into the witness protection program. Threads like this just endanger him.

I miss LSLGuy. At least I think that’s who it was. Had tons of aviation knowledge.

Another one I miss. A decent guy.

Ironically, some of LSL’s last postings were to defend SamuelA and suggest that we give him a chance.

LSLGuy whipped up a Windows program for me, just being nice. When I right click on a file, the mouse menu now has an item on it named “Copy full path to clipboard”. I can do that and then past that path into anything that needs me to list a file path. I’ve probably been using that for 15 years and in my folders of computer programming stuff there’s an “LSLGuy” subfolder…

That’s pretty slick. Good guy.

He’s an airline pilot (or was). Nice guy; I miss him too.

It should be that if you hold ctrl and right click, there’s a ‘copy as path’ option that does that without any extra programs. But I’m not sure how long that’s been around. In any case, it’s a nice thing to do.

I, too, miss Stranger, whose occasional moments of pompousness were more than offset by the amount of high quality insight and information he brought to this board.

He’d be the guy I’d put in charge of Space Force. I imagine he’d have some choice words to say about it.

The dead speak!

Well don’t keep it a secret…

He does. And he’s voiced them on here. Stranger actually helped me with my graduate thesis last year. He’s a great guy.

I don’t post much, but I’ve lurked here a long time. So many threads are repeatedly debating, pondering and questioning things where the vast majority of people cannot affect any outcome. 9/11, Iraq Wars, Trump latest tweet, etc.

However - right now - perhaps more than ever in most peoples lifetimes there is a real need to fight ignorance within the general public. Pretty much every single person on this planet can right now make a difference and help save lives by agreeing to follow their recommended government health procedures during this pandemic. Many people don’t get it. They are resistant to what is being asked. They might be posting on this board or they might be lurking here.

I am glad Stranger has come back and is making well reasoned and factual based arguments - fighting ignorance when ignorance needs fighting the most.

He’s been posting again. I for one am glad he’s decided to return. I’ve really noticed his absence this past year.

He has one of the highest signal-to-noise ratios of any poster on the SDMB. I almost always learn something I didn’t know when I read his posts, and I respect his opinions and appreciate his insights as well.

In this current crisis we find ourselves in, I appreciate his presence here more than ever.

Welcome back, Stranger!
