That stupid show Real TV

I watch TNN once in awhile strictly for Star Trek, but I can’t help but flip to the channel when RealTV comes on and I watch a few clips. Now, is it just me, or do they add stupid, cheap and unneccessary sound effects to the clips? I mean, to me, it seems kind of obvious that the sounds on the TV show do not resemble the sounds which probably took place in the actual amature video recordings.

For example, in one of the clips, they showed people in the Blue Mountains in Australia swinging from ropes in a huge gorge, and there was a sound of many people cheering and clapping in the background despite the fact that there were probably 5-10 people visible from what the cameraman was recording.

This show is really starting to piss me off. There are many other instances where their crappy sound editing gets on my nerves.

Now does this belong in the Pit or should it stay here? Bah. I guess the main point of this post is the question of whether or not it is just me who realizes this and wants to shoot the producers of the show.

It’s not just “RealTV”, pretty much every single Home Video show adds sound effects during production. I blame Bob Saget for this nonsense.

I’ve always hated this show, and ones like it. Before it was on TNN, our local WB affiliate use to show it twice a day through the week and would use it to fill in odd time slots on weekends and late at night. Between this and that damn The Lighter Side Of Sports show that comes on three different channels we get from three different cities locally I’ve come close to having an Elvis shoots the TV moment.

Besides, I’ve always found something creepy and phony about Ahmad Rashad. Not something I can put my finger on, just something seems odd about him.

In the same vein, has anyone checked out MaxEx? The same sort of Redneck Olympics footage, but much better writing…

FOX does the same things with their news helicopter footage of car chases on “World’s Wildest Police Videos”. It doesn’t matter if the chase takes place in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta or Washington, DC – the news reporter will ALWAYS sound like Bob Tur.

I think you’re reading way too far into this. The purpose of these shows is to fill a cheap timeslot with an ultra-cheap production. I really don’t think they waste their time or money adding sound effects that aren’t needed.

You guys sound like my ex who INSISTS that the Jackass movie is “fake.”

This comes on here on Saturday nights at 2am - right after bars close. I’ve caught it on more than one occaision while flipping channels before going to bed. I know it’s cheesy and horrible, yet I must continue to watch it.

The funniest line I heard was when they had footage of a guy in a lowrider contest. He was holding the remote switch and causing his lowrider to bounce up and down on all four wheels. After taking a particularly hard bounce, one of the fancy decorative rims shot off and hit the guy in the head. As he fell to the ground in a heap, the smarmy voice-over guy said “Talk about a rim job!”.

I lost my shit over that one.

As of next week, you’ll be watching it on ‘Spike TV’, not ‘TNN’.
