That sweet, tangy sauce on meatloaf... need help!

Here’s what I want to do:

Bought meatloaf from the deli and served it yesterday. Want to use the leftover half in a casserole today… with onions, mushrooms and macaroni or penne.

The problem is, I need to augment the sauce… there’s not enough of the original for the casserole. I could use spaghetti sauce but it’s quite a different flavour. Any ideas?

Ketchup and brown sugar is pretty much the basic sauce I’ve always made. Little bit of worchestershire to taste…

1/2 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons cider vinegar

This is the basic proportion for a glaze. Expand as needed for a sauce. Tatstes better if you reduce it a bit in a saucepan before serving.

I agree with above, but also add a small amount of yellow mustard.

Ketchup and brown sugar are the two basic ingredients in any sauce like that I’ve ever seen. I also use a bit of mustard. Some diced onions are also good if you’re into that sort of thing.

Thanks everybody… appreciate it!

It may well be Heinz Chili Sauce. Which is basically like a tangier ketchup with some onions.

Catsup, apple butter, apple cider vinegar, a bit of mustard, and a dash or two of Worcestershire sauce.
