That was a Freaky Coincidence!

Yesterday I’m discussing the strategy for moving one of the shop cranes with some department heads. This involves moving the 480 volt crane feed, the air lines and the 120 volt power drops around the crane. There is an erecting company (the crane guys) that we use to move the actual crane itself. The crane guys’ shop is about 40 miles from here so they don’t just drop in whenever they feel like it, plus this place has moderately high security so you can’t just walk in off the street. Anyway, we were discussing the possibility of getting the crane guys out here on Sunday to move the crane and have it in place by Monday morning (the crane guys are not known for their strict adherence to deadlines and are usually far from punctual). One of the shop leaders was concerned about when the crane guys would actually show up, whether or not they even could, and if and when they did, if they could get the job done on time.
I said, “Those guys could show anytime, it wouldn’t surprise me if they showed up five minutes from now or come anytime on the weekend, no one can say for sure.” We all chuckle.

Guess who shows up and walks past us almost exactly five minutes later?

The crane guys’ foreman.

He came a couple days early to make sure all the parts showed up for the crane move project.

Weird.
