That world's longest fingernail lady broke her nails

I thought it was a little creepy, but totally cool at the same time. At least now she doesn’t have to worry about whenor if she will cut them, that was decided for her.

I imagine she’s relieved to have the decision to cut them taken out of her hands, so to speak.

Her boogers never had a chance.

Probably. Apparently she’s been setting dates and chickening out, repeatedly, for a number of years. Sort of reminds me of when I had long(ish) hair for 9 or 10 years in my teens, but had grown up and changed a little and wanted to get rid of it (plus it never really worked well with my hair type, so it wasn’t even like I had awesome long hair or anything). I kept wussing out. When you have a feature like that, that you have decided for years to hold onto despite ridicule or criticism (long hair, on a guy, in a small-town high school, for example) – it becomes ingrained in you that getting rid of it is an act of selling out to other people’s expectations. You’ve defied them for all these years and now you’re just going to cut it off? It’s probably not a coincidence that I put it off, somewhat against my own desires, until after I finished college and moved out of town – just so I wouldn’t have to answer any smug bullshit questions about “so, you finally decided we were right, huh?” If your particular feature made you world-famous, imagine how difficult that would be to make that decision.

She’s going to have to re-learn how to wipe her butt now. And type and drive and cut hair and masturbate and pull on tights and text-message her friends. I hope she gets some help with her readjustment.

I immediately thought of this scene from an old movie, The North Avenue Irregulars. Chloris Leachman’s character was completely obsessed with her perfect nails and what happened to her here was priceless!

No snark intended: I wonder how it felt for her the first time she made a real fist, with her fingertips inside her palms! I only had “normal” long nails, at most 1/2 an inch, and I couldn’t do that without stabbing myself. When my nails were trimmed short, it felt SO WEIRD! My finger joints were so happy when they could finally bend all the way “closed.”
