Cincinnati
Houston
Detroit
St. Louis (Woo Hoo!!! My pick is still alive.)
And just promoted Jim Haslett to head coach.
Tell me, Rams brass, what convinced you he was head coach material? Was it your team’s 32nd-ranked defense? Or its 32nd-ranked scoring defense?
It would be that Haslett has been a HC and Al Saunders has not. Bringing in a whole new system is not really an option until January.
OK, this week has three of our four remaining teams fighting to remain among the horriblest:
Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys
-
-
- This has all the marks of a choke job upset win for the Bengals, but they’ll remain winless in the end.
-
Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans
-
-
- Houston finally gets a home game, but the Colts are getting healthy and are coming off a bye. Houston will eventually get a win or two, just not this week.
-
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
-
-
- Chris Berman picked the Lions to win this. I disagree. They’ll be leading toward the end, but they’ll let the Bears take the win. That’s how dedicated the Lions are to wasting another high draft pick next year.
-
.
The St. Louis Rams have a bye, but will still manage to lose, somehow.
I think the Bengals will leave Dallas with a 1-4 record. But what do I know, I’m a Bengals fan…hope springs eternal!
I’m thinking all three will manage to lose.
In Matt Millen’s first year, the Lions went 2-14, but the games were interesting, in a Gilligan’s Island sort of way. Just like you knew Gilligan wasn’t going to get off the island at the end of the show, no matter how likely it looked, you knew the Lions were going to lose. But they were close in a lot of games, and came up with some creative ways to lose at the very end. IIRC, they were 0-13 before winning two of their last three.
This year, it’s like you’re watching them just sitting around eating bananas, without even any teasing that they might get off the island. Who the hell is writing this show?
The Bengals played well yesterday. They had a chance to beat a good team. Houston had a good show against a very good team.
The Lions got killed. They reeked in a loss to the Bears. Down 31 to 0 in the 3rd quarter.
And for one brief, shining week the Rams get to look in wonder at a team with a worse record than they have.
Until next week, when they continue thier drive to 0-16.
I think after this week, we can pretty much narrow this down to a horse race bewtween the Rams and the Lions. The Texans and the Bengals, as bad as they are playing, at least have a chance to win some games. I am not seeing that in STL and DET. I am torn between these two though. DET has the better player talent, but STL is actually taking some actions that may improve them on-field this year; whereas firing Millian only prevents DET fromdrafting yet another WR in the first round.
Since they do not face each other, could we be looking at a season with TWO 0-16 teams?
Well, the Texans and Rams utterly failed at failing, leaving the 0-5 Lions and 0-6 Bengals as the only remaining teams who still have a shot at perfection.
I can’t believe the Redskins lost to the friggin’ Rams!
I had to work today and couldn’t pay attention. That must be why they lost.
Hows that work. I watched the Lions and they lost again. They got jobbed by 3 bad calls.
Who agrees with this? Detroit has better player talent??
I certainly don’t, but then my favorite thing on earth are the Rams(along with Queen) and the only time I root for the lions is when the play New England,so I’m a little biased.
Well, it didn’t help that our quarterback gave them a safety.
It’s still rather unfair. If the Lions are going to win the race for the first pick of the draft, I want it to be genuine. No help from the refs. Last thing you want is a perfect record tainted with an asterisk.
The Rams’ next game is against Dallas, just as Tony Romo goes down with an injury.
Lions traded Roy Williams. That eliminates an offensive threat. Kitna is out for the season. We could pull it off.
IDK, but the there are somewhat credible rumors a-swirling that Carson Palmer is out for the year due to his swollen elbow. He stayed behind after the Jets debacle (in which he didn’t play) to seek a second opinion.
If Palmer is out for the year and FitzKitna is the starter (why don’t they play Carson’s younger brother Jordan?), then my beloved, bruised and oft-maligned Bengals may be the winner of this 0-16 contest.
We play the hated Steelers next. Fucking yay. I can’t believe my team is 0-6 with this much talent on offense. We blow.
Then there were 2. Lions managed to lose again. Bengals keep pace.
The Lions looked fairly credible against the Redskins. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them win a game.
The Lions game was blacked because it was not sold out. First time in years. I believe they have 3 home games in a row coming up. Except for Thanksgiving . they will disappear from our minds. They need a better coach. They have a temp GM. They have a stop gap QB. They stressed running this year and are near the bottom in rushing. They have nothing working. Future looks glum.
Because of the rules for drafting the Lions do have some talent strewn around the roster. Just not enough across the board. In 7 games this year ,the opposing QB had a career game against them. That is aa telling stat.
