Some interesting choices
Would have been nice if they named them instead of having to click. Was the Haunting among them?
I thought it was the scariest movies. I was wondering why the Shining was listed twice!
The one that immediately came to mind was the Nazi Zombie “dream within a dream”-scene from An American Werewolf in London. They do have that flick, but chose the murder on the moors. Odd.
Where is the scene where Gregory Peck is just discovering the 666 on Damian’s head in the nursery at night and the apostate nurse comes up behind him? I didn’t see it. You can’t tell me that’s not in the top 100. Hell, top 20!
(It might be in there; I got tired of clicking.)
You know, there are a lot of scenes from Asian horror films that should have made this list. Audition? A Tale of Two Sisters?
See how it compares with this list of 100 Scariest Movie Moments.
The Haunting got screwed, screwed I tells ya. Not on the list. Scary flick if you haven’t seen it, largely due to the awesome sound design. Avoid the 1999 remake.
The Furry Fellatio scene from The Shining? That’s not scary. Weird, yes. Scary, no. Scatman getting an axe in the chest, now that was scary.
I was pleased to see they included the Frank’s Home segment from Blue Velvet. At the end of the scene when he flaps his hand around like he has some sort of burning oil on it, grunting “HMMMWAH! HMMMMMAH!”…brrrrrrrrrr…
I immediately guessed the #1 scene before I clicked on the link, and I bet most others did too. Time to take a shower now.
I’m glad they had The Serpent and the Rainbow but again, they listed the wrong scene.
And they don’t seem to have the scene from Misery.
I’m glad to see the nurse scene from The Exorcist III made it into the top ten. That’s scary shit.
Which one? There’s one at 17.

Well, they have a scene from Misery at #17.
When I was very young I watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory over and over and over. To the point where even now I can recite a good portion of it off the top of my head. As a young child I never found the boat ride scene to be scarey. It’s not like I was brave or anything either, I was a real wus as a kid. I walked out in the middle of Return of the Jedi when my mother took me to see it because I was scared (I don’t remember at what exactly). I used to have nightmares about Skeletor. When I was a young teen and Nightmare on Elm street was the ‘cool’ thing to watch, it used to scare the crap out of me. But the Willy Wonka boat scene? It was just plain cool, no scarey at all. (It made #19 for those that didn’t click the link)
