Thisnwas bound to happen with the Steelers sooner or later. The way Ben takes hits, it was almost inevitable that tney would have to use the backup qb. And they have been lucking out for some time with leftwich and batch.
Batch shouldnt even be on the team, but hes a local guy who played football in a pgh. Area HS (Steel Valley, if memory serves). Hes a nice story, ad hes not much of a threat to leave now that hes in his late 30’s and in the twilight of his career. Thats what they did with Mike Tomscak. But having Leftwich too is not a smart move. You cant have two aging QB’s backing up your star, or you run the risk of losing your season if you lose the star for a few weeks.
The Steelers need a young QB that is hungry and wants his shot on the roster. Maybe you lose these games, but maybe you dont. The Steelers are excellent at drafting, and with this offense, he doesnt need to own the game. Dennis Dixon would be someone that might fit the bill, but he’s not available.
How about trading for Matt Cassell? He knows Haleys offense, and he wouldnt command more than a 6th round pick. The bad thing about him is his contract. But he would never threaten Ben, and thats what you need… A decent backup with some skills, but not one to start a QB controversy.
I don’t know. The Human Tree Stump, his 31 yard run aside, is a sitting duck who is going to get creamed in the next game or two. They have to have a plan B.
Well, hilljacks, at last we meet. If you lose I don’t want to hear bullshit about being down a rapist, cause the Browns don’t get injury sympathy when it goes the other way.
I looked into Dixon and apparently he was on the Ravens practice squad and was signed to the roster as soon as the Ravens organization learned of Ben’s injury. Smart move, Ravens!
This thread is going to provide some comedy gold going forward. The opening salvo has just been fired across the bow!
Leftwich broke a rib during his 31 yd. jaunt into the endzone. Thats right. He ran untouched into the endzone and broke a rib.
But thats not the most disturbing part. Apparently the Steelers bench knew he was hurt, which explains why he couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat, and instead of going with Batch, they kept Leftwich in for the entire game.
How coid Tomlin let a game like this slip away? If je doesnt like Batch, get rid of him. But to keep him on the roster and refuse to play him in a game where the Ravens put up only 13 points seems strange.
Today we will see why Cleveland Browns Stadium is called the Factory of Sadness. The Browns are going to lose to a third-string senior citizen with a receiving corps so decimated that they actually signed Plexiglass.
I can’t wait to hear the excuses. I’ll bet it comes out later that the entire team caught the Cleveland Staph.
I can’t tell if that was a designed draw or something retarded happened. Scratch that, something retarded definitely happened, just not sure what specifically.
The factory of sadness is apparently gearing up for export. Does the Cleveland Staph cause excessive fumbling? 'Cause the entire team certainly had that.
After the Steelers play the most atrocious game of offensive football in history, the refs decide to rub salt in the wound by making the worst call of the game, taking away a super obvious fumble that should have given the Steelers the ball with 2 minutes left on the Browns 45.
I wasn’t anywhere near a computer, I just now got home.
So, it’s official. Pittsburgh cannot fall any further than losing to the Browns, and my hatred for them has been renewed. Factory of Sadness? Yeah, I’d say I’m not even a little bit happy right now. It occurs to me that if you turn the ball over that many times you cannot win, yet the Steelers were in it right up to the very end, which hardly speaks well of the Browns, either. It was, simply put, a bad game by both teams, and the team that played worse deservedly lost.
They could lose out and still not catch the Browns even after this debacle, so you may want to consider holding off on that one until there’s a possibility it might happen. As for this thread, it’s still possible, though looking very, very unlikely. Then again, if they make the playoffs anything can happen, so we’ll see.
