The 10th Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

Both were fined.

The word on Ben is a shoulder sprain, severity unknown. The question, judging by the way the articles are written, seems to be how many games Ben will miss, not if he’ll miss any at all.

This is the second year in a row that a high/low tackle has jacked Ben up. This year looked promising for him as far as injuries go. I guess it was inevitable, but it couldn’t have happened at a worse time with the Ratbirds coming up. That division lead I thought they’d have in a few weeks is now in jeopardy.

Yuck. The refs worked as much in Steeler favour this week as they worked against vs. the Giants. Shameful performance in my opinion; the Chiefs deserved to win that game.

With Roethlisberger and probably Polamalu out against the Ravens it will be quite a test of their ‘next man up’ philosophy. Word is another week at least for Troy. I resigned myself to hoping for a split with the Ravens and still think they’ll be okay if they lose this one so saving Troy for the stretch run might be the wise, if tough, decision if they think he’s on the cusp.

I really wish they would replace Ziggy Hood with Heyward, maybe let Ziggy play inside on the sub- packages. Neither he nor Woodley held their gaps at all on those stretch runs and Hampton just can’t move the inside of the line around like he used to. Granted Keisel had the same issues when he replaced Von Oelhoeffen years ago.

He retired in July after not getting signed in 2011.

That push off call was ridiculous. I think it was a make up call for the horrible holding/swearing at me pair of flags against Pittsburgh in the first quarter, or the non call interference against Wallace.

But yeah

That push off call was ridiculous. I think it was a make up call for the horrible holding/swearing at me pair of flags against Pittsburgh in the first quarter, or the non call interference against Wallace.

But yeah, there were some stinkers there.

Carrying around all that hair just put too much pressure on the rest of his body.

Yeah, I’m a bald and jealous Cleveland fan. So what?

I forgot about the swearing call. That was…different.

There were some calls against the Steelers too but not at such crucial moments as the bad calls against the Chiefs. Those things leave a bad taste no matter which side benefits.

Ben’s shoulder is apparently the least of his problems. He also broke a rib, or injured it in such a way that moving it is very painful, and pressure in the wrong spot could cause the rib to puncture his aorta, which would likely be fatal. So…we won’t see Ben for a few weeks at least.

That is such a huge blow to the Steelers chances. I don’t like either Ben or the Steelers, but I always want to see a team win or lose at full strength.

Of course - there’s never such thing as a run-of-the-mill injury with Ben. Tomlin and the team have confirmed the SC sprain, but it’s weird that the only named source I’ve seen for the aorta-puncturing danger is Roethliseberger himself. If I were cynical man, I’d suspect he’s trying to create a story that will make him look like an Olympic God when he comes back to the field.

What’s with the rolleyes? He’s a man of heroic proportions, fighting through life-threatening 104 degree temperatures, broken toes and ruptured aortas!

He’s always been a drama queen. The sc joint injury sounds bad enough since it was the injury that forced Favre into missing the game that ended his streak (and then he came back, played a game and then missed a few more). It’s not promising.

Yeah. If this injury is for real, I would certainly take it seriously if I were him. Bad news for the Steelers for sure. What ever happened to that Dixon cat you guys used to have? I bet they wish they had him over the two ancient QB’s they have now.

Dixon was just released by someone, I forget who. They seem comfortable with Leftwich and Batch. Mendenhall is back this week and the Ravens are badly dinged on D. They may go with a steady diet of runs up the gut with Leftwich firing deep (the one thing he does better then Roethlisberger) once in a while. Sucks for me in one sense though. I have Heath Miller on my fantasy team and I expect him to have to do a lot of blocking this week.

Well, that game sucked. Right up until the end I thought Pittsburgh was going to pull it out. They had all the momentum, and then Byron started holding his ribs. Alas, it was the team that made the big play, as it always seems to be when they play each other, that won the game. Pittsburgh’s special teams were very special today. As usual.

I hate games like this. Pittsburgh won everywhere but the scoreboard, and that’s all that matters.

I never thought the Steelers were going to win the game after theynlost the lead. Imdont know why, but i just didnt have any confidence in leftwichnsustaining drives. Sadly, i was correct. The Steelers D played a great game and should have won that game. One sloppy special teams play and thats that. Hard to swallow, but it is what it is.

A few complaints… Why did they not run more? Leftwich throwing deep downfield on 3rd and short made no sense, and yet they did it over and over. I also question bringing back mendenhall for this game… They were running hard without him, and tomtoss him into a game where running tough up the middle is a requirement made no sense. He’s not that kind of a running back.

So, unless there is a major collapse, the steelers lost the division last night, and now, they will have to scramble for a wild card.

Which sucks.

Leftwich was playing on broken ribs, and Batch is looking to start. Who will they sign as next in line? Dixon?

Apparently Tyler Palko is available.

Unless they re-released him, Dixon is a Raven.
