The 14th Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

Well I think is probably Ben’s last year – he ain’t getting any younger.

So Joey Porter is being charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness, and making terroristic threats. Word is that he got into it with a bartender/bouncer and it escalated, then the cops showed up and he fought them.

Stupid. Utterly stupid. But drunk people do what drunk people do. I’ve seen it many times, and I’ve nearly been that guy myself before. Doesn’t make it OK, of course.

Both Pittsburgh and Green Bay are playing quite well, now. Both spent too much of the earlier part of the season playing less well, and the result of that is going to be a set of road games for each, at least one of which will be in a place they don’t like to play (Foxboro and Dallas, respectively). <sigh>

I’m nervous about this game. By rights Pittsburgh ought to win this, they’re better on both sides of the ball and they absolutely KILLED KC earlier this year, but it’s by no means a game that I’m comfortable with.

What I can’t figure out is how KC is a 5-point favorite against them. Oh, well. It doesn’t have to make sense.

Hey, take the points and be happy!

7-6 KC so far. Ben’s missed Brown twice and KC’s been doing well with the dink-and-dunk.

I hope this doesn’t turn into The Boswell Show, or if it does that the defense tightens up.

And on they march…

They won, but they’d better remember how to score touchdowns next week.

Patriots are not going to commit penalties like KC did, and won’t drop as many passes either. So the Stillers better figure out a way to score 27 points on the Patriots, no mean task.

To be fair, the Chiefs played some good defense and outright stole one from Brown, picked off another on a great play, and stiffened at exactly the right times.

It took a record to beat them. They were tough. But Pittsburgh has a date with New England yet again, and if they play anywhere near as bad as they did yesterday Pittsburgh has this. Ben isn’t Osweiler, and while the defense isn’t as good as Houston’s it’s still pretty good. Pressure on Brady and any offense at all gives them a good shot.

It’s that damn glove. I hope it’s warm and dry next weekend in Foxboro.

I guess we can say “it’s on!” after AB decides to broadcast Tomlin’s speech to world. Might be a good thing.

Chief’s fan here. 3 observations:

  1. It definitely WAS holding on Eric Fisher. Harrison didn’t fall down or fake it. Fisher tackled him.

  2. Travis Kelce is an idiot. Hey, dummy, what about your personal foul when you shoved the Steeler?

  3. I wish to heck we had Bell. He had 170 yards and the Chiefs had 62 total.

It was a pretty stupid thing. Rather than cheesing and preening for the camera, how about listening to the coach? Instead, he’s giving the Patriots some bulletin board material. So much for the old maxim about what’s said in the locker room stays there.

And as I type this I get a flash from ESPN that Brown’s future is NOT assured in Pittsburgh. I’d be surprised if that were true, but he sure has done some dumb stuff recently.

Can’t disagree with either statement after watching the play.

Bizarrely, a wire service article today claimed the holding call wasn’t “clear cut” because the rusher “may” have been losing his balance and likely wouldn’t have gotten to the quarterback anyway. :dubious:

In most cases, I would agree with your assessment. However, with this Patriots team, I don’t think it will make any difference at all. They’re always 100% ready and motivated. Meanwhile, I hope it leads to a more disciplined Steeler team on Sunday. It was definitely stupid and he should have been paying the F! attention. But sometimes unintended consequences are actually positive.

Not sure how they did it, but the Patriots managed to infect a portion of the Steelers with the flu.

I’m certain that the Commish will punish them appropriately. :stuck_out_tongue:

Waiting for the fallout of Flugate.

No doubt a Patriots operative injected some flu laden air into all the practice balls, knowing the Steelers would studiously reduce the pressure so it’s inside the NFL mandated limits.
