Oh, we all know how this will end. The Steelers will come back from behind to win, aided for the most part by biased officiating, especially when the Jags are on defense (refs sing the praises of defensive PI, which is one of the most plausible-deniability calls that can possibly be called). There will be a few late or dirty hits by Pittsburgh that will go ignored. The final score will be something like 37-34 or 38-31. The NFL isn’t going to let things get in the way of that Pats-Steelers AFC title game rematch.
Win or lose, at least we turned this into a game. Most teams would have phoned it in after that disastrous start.
There is nobody else I would rather have for my team in this situation than Ben Roethlisberger.
Tom Brady.
WTF was that? We need 3 inches and go play action? I do blame Haley for that, and for the prior wide pitch on 4th and 2 inches.
Network control-booth producers do love the “Mike Tomlin on sideline in trouble” shot, don’t they?
Here’s the thing. It is Haley’s fault. Two 4th and nothings we run some wrinkle. A Ben pick and fumble. At least 14 of these points are on Ben and arguably another 14 on Haley when his shitty calls lead to excellent field position for JAX. The defense has been rather spotty, but not as much as the offense and the offensive (yes) play calling.
HOLY CRAP, what was that? Downtown Brown again.
How the hell can you get a nice rant going when they make a dumbass decision on 4th down, throw into coverage, and then it’s a touchdown.
Although I am a Steelers fan pissing my pants here…AGAIN…on FOURTH DOWN you throw that???
I think we just chuck everything up to AB on every play from here on out.
…
I don’t know. When they score 42 points on you (or god forbid more), I think defense warrants a look when figuring out what went wrong.
Time of possession is 28:16 vs 28:04. Would not have guessed it was that close.
Since 2014, the Steelers have ranked 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 3rd in yards per game under Haley. Yet he continues to be blamed for almost everything that goes wrong for the Steelers. I still don’t understand that.
Team Evil on the brink…
That was the worst onside kick I’ve seen in a while.
Note I did not refer to everything in the past four years. I referred to his shitty calls in this game. The onside kick was also a shitty call, so maybe it is not him but Tomlin.
Onside was reasonable. The Jags have scored 35 points on offense; it was entirely reasonable to think Pittsburgh might not ever get the ball back if they boomed it deep.
Steelers seem utterly unable to find the sideline to get out of bounds.
Well, the better team won today. Hope they can take it to the Patriots, but I don’t have high hopes.
Is there ANYWAY the Steelers could have scored with 1 second left? I thought a kicking team could no advance a muffed kickoff.
