The 15th Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

Is there any other Pittsburgh sports reporter more obnoxious than Rob Rossi?

The announcers are always saying “modern version of the Killer B’s”. Especially Al Michaels. Serious question: Who is the original killer B’s?

To me, the original killer B’s is always the 90’s pirates team that that had: Bonds, Bonilla, Bell, Backman, Bream… am I missing some more?

Hopefully we can just start with a new coach and work our way from there.

I will second a lot of this. The last few years have soured my opinion of the NFL and Football. I find I don’t enjoy it like I used to. Rice, ignoring injuries and lying about them, only caring about optics in their every decision, owner’s greed, robbing tax payers in city after city etc. Ironically the protests which pissed so many other off was a rare bright spot for me. I haven’t abandoned the Steelers or the NFL yet but I could see a future where I do.

The '82 Dolphins.

Thank you for that! I never knew. Ignorance fought.

No.

Steelers are in the driver’s seat for the first seed with the game next week against New England. Win and it’s probably locked up.

But we still need that win. I was talking to my buddy during the game last night and we talked about how a loss wasn’t that bad. For the same reason, a NE loss doesn’t kill them.

They are one game behind, but a win pulls them even AND gives them the tie-breaker. If NE won tonight, and we were even, a NE win next week would still put them ahead.

I love that that Pats lost tonight, but it didn’t really help us that much.

I agree that it didn’t help a ton; however, the dream scenario is that the Steelers beat the Patriots and the Jaguars lose to whoever they play next week. With the Patriots loss last night, that would lead to the Steelers having locked in the #1 seed and they’d be able to rest starters for the final two weeks of the season, plus the first round bye.

If this were a movie, you’d all laugh at the blatantly transparant plot. The Patriots, for the first time since celphones started fitting in pockets, can’t convert a single 3rd down, with a healthy Brady? Miami, with a bottom 5 rushing offense can suddenly run all over the Patriots? I could go on, but the list of preposterous things is obvious enough.

Combine this with the fact that this game doesn’t matter, and Belichick pulled the ultimate ruse. He knew the Steelers would be watching this game, and gave them everything they *won’t * see next Sunday. Brilliant.

The Giants have been doing the same thing, but don’t plan to spring their trap until next season.

On re-reading, I’m not entirely sure I’m entirely joking. (The Pats part, that is: the obvious Giants’ real strategy is that they’re planning on Cleveland winning their next three games).

The funny thing is, I’ve heard multiple people on sports talk radio today saying the same thing as you. And they’re dead serious.

No probably about it. They win, they clinch. They would be up by 2 with 2 games left and the tie breaker. I hope they win but the Pats don’t lose two in a row often.

Kind of, beating the Pats and then losing to Houston and the Browns, and the Jags winning out would give the 1 seed to the Jags, no?

Speaking of, I’m about 95% convinced that an 0-15 Browns team will find a way to finish 1-15 by beating the Steelers in week 17.

Against the Pats, I’m looking for some pressure (and hopefully a couple sacks) on Brady and getting Bell going on the ground (or dump offs, i’ll take dump offs) to hopefully lead to a win.

True about Jacksonville. I forgot about them.

I’m also not taking Cleveland for granted. They almost always play the Steelers tough no matter how bad they are.

I just don’t have a good feeling about this team because of the defense. The secondary is suspect and we cannot stop the run. Hopefully we can turn it around, but I get the feeling that Brady will tear our secondary to pieces.

Big game today. I’m nervous about it, but I think Pittsburgh has a really good shot at winning. It all depends on whether they can play from beginning to end instead of either starting slowly or taking the middle of the game off as they’ve been doing. If they get behind it will take a Herculean effort to come back.

Not many games genuinely scare me. This is one of them.

In other news, Marvin Lewis is leaving the Bengals. Hope you enjoyed your sustained run of adequacy, Bengals fans, because while he couldn’t win a playoff game (for which he can thank his players), he at least consistently made the playoffs and he put up with Mike Brown. Not many good coaches can say the same.

Antonio Brown is hurt. If it’s bad Pittsburgh is done.

WHAT!!! FUCK YOU!!!

Oh please oh please oh pleeeeeaaaaassseeeee

Hoping the dirty, despicable team doesn’t win here…
