The 16th Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

At this point, the Ravens are better than the Steelers. Steelers should’ve won this, especially given the fact that this time, actually, the Steelers did get a couple major officiating gifts.

OK, it’s a new week. All Pittsburgh has to do is win one game at a time. Deep breath, play like you can, and this will all work out, Steelers.

If not, what a mess of a season. Actually, it’s a mess of a season no matter what.

Indianapolis stays alive in the playoff hunt with a 23-0 victory over Dallas.

Posted in this thread because…?

…because I thought I was in the regular NFL thread.

Impressive Steelers win. But the Ravens still have the easier remaining schedule. They may go 2-0 while Pittsburgh loses to New Orleans and splits its last two 1-1.

No, though I’m sure Airman Doors, USAF would love to think that there’s not much of importance beyond the Steelers.

The Steelers have been tied or had the lead in the second half of every single game this year, and yet find themselves at 8-5-1 needing a win over the sometimes dominant Saints, or need the Chargers to do us a solid and beat the Ravens. Ugh.

Will be watching the Saints tonight on MNF with interest. Their offense which seemed unstoppable most of the season, has looked at least mortal the last couple of weeks.

He is right. There is not.

Well, we need to also beat Cincy and given how we play down to our opponents, that is never a given. Has N.O. now clinched such that they might be resting players?

No, not quite. Saints have 2 losses and the Rams have 3, and the Saints beat the Rams. So any Saints victory or Rams loss gives the #1 seed in the NFC to the Saints. Rams have the Cardinals and Niners left on their schedule, so they will be favored in both games. Saints undoubtedly would like to win this week so they can rest next week against the Panthers.

Steelers’ season is on the ropes now. Beat the Saints or it’s all over.

As much as I worry about the Steeler D this season, it’s the Saints’ d-line that I’m concerned about in this one. Cam Jordan is a beast, a few teams have resorted to trying to chip him and THEN double team and he is still getting in the backfield and wreaking havoc. Saints backups have been effective too. In Munchak I trust but this is a big test this week.

I’ve been really bad about updating this recently, mostly because I went from despondency two weeks ago to elation last week and I simply couldn’t find the words.

So now we’re down to it. The Chargers shit on their dicks yesterday and put the Rats in a really good position to win the division. That leaves some crazy scenarios for Pittsburgh to get in.

First, and most obvious, is that they can help themselves by beating the Saints. In the Superdome. Yeah. It could happen, though. The Steelers won’t be able to run but they will have the opportunity to run wild with the pass. It all falls on Ben not turning the ball over and making good decisions. This could be a pretty wild shootout.

If they lose, though, this is how it falls out:

Beat the Bengals

AND

Browns beat the Rats

OR

Colts lose today (they’re currently down 10 to the Giants) AND beat the Titans next week

None of that is unlikely, or even improbable, but needing help is not what I was hoping for and invariably something goes wrong and Pittsburgh gets Succoped.

So just beat the Saints and it’s all done but the shouting. The Bungles are the hottest of hot garbage right now and the lunatic Burfict just went out with a concussion so it shouldn’t be a problem. By the way, how could they tell that Burfict had a concussion? Is it like Billy Bob in Varsity Blues where they hold up some fingers and ask if he can see them? But I digress.

What a wild and crazy season. The ending is no different.

I don’t think the Browns beating the rats is all that unlikely. They’re confident and would love to finish the season on a win streak.

As much as I’d hate to help the Steelers make the playoffs, the alternative is the illegitimate entity winning the division, so I guess I’ll be happy if we take care of that one for you.

The Clots are keeping the Giants in sight. Right now they’re trading touchdowns and Indy is down a field goal.

I just can’t trust the Giants no matter how well they’re playing.

I was right not to trust the Giants. Bunch of chokers.

So now it’s two wins and in or banking on the Browns next week if they lose to the Saints.

Win this, Pittsburgh!

Indy looks to have it won, 28-27.
Steelers have only one route remaining to the postseason now.

They have to win the division, but there are still two routes. If they win out they’re in. If they lose today they need the Stolen Browns to lose to the Current Browns. Not impossible. I’d put it at 50/50.

If the above doesn’t happen, but the Steelers beat the Bungels AND Tennessee and Indianapolis TIE, we are a wild card team. Gooooo, nobody!

What in the holy fucking hell was that PI call? That was a gift 7 points to N.O.
