Well, then you’ll have to live with being completely wrong. Have fun.
I am completely indifferent to both the Wings and the Sharks, and I did not watch the whole game, let alone the whole series so far. But in the approximately period and a half that I watched, I recall at least two instances where I thought to myself “dive!” and I think they were both Sharks (one for sure, the other I just don’t recall). The contact may have happened, but the reaction was way over the top. Not that my opinion matters, but I figure if it jumped out at a relatively inexperienced fan of neither team who cheered goals on both sides of the game, then maybe…just maybe…there was some diving going on.
I also recall rolling my eyes at other non calls and bad calls, too.
I didn’t notice any Sharks diving, but there were something like 10 power plays to three during that game, favoring the Sharks. Only about 5 of the Wings penalties looked like real penalties. Very disappointing. Anyway lets hope game 3 is better, I got tickets.
Hawks vs. Canucks is pretty intense. Versteeg just scored with a minute and a half left.
That was one of the prettiest goals you’ll ever see.
Pens got a shut-out tonight!!! Flower-Power!!!
And the Sharks go up 3-0 in the series. In Detroit.
Bwahahaha!
Balls.
Game 4 Thursday. Habs are going to have to find a way to win at home.
Right on track for my Wings/Sharks prediction…now that SJ has it’s 3 games all Detroit has to do is win their four!
No problem. They Disallowed a Wing goal for bouncing off Datsyuk’s skate. It was big .
I was flipping back and forth on the tiger game. They were ties at 3 in the 9th. Wings tied at 3 in OT. They both lost at the same time.
No. You’re wrong. They correctly ruled Datsyuk kicked it in.
We were flipping back and forth between the Sharks and Giants, who were playing extra innings against the Marlins.
Luckily for us, the Giants didn’t win until about 10 minutes after the hockey game, so we got to see them both
I, sadly, missed the game but from what I read the penalty shot that Detroit was awarded was in error as well. I guess referee mistakes go both ways…
Even still, they were better in this game. Besides, I’ll take a lost goal to a possible kick any day to an intent to blow the whistle.
Simply put, Detroit blew it. No blaming the refs here. They just don’t have the consistency that they’ve had in years prior. I believe I said the series was going to go short or long. I’m wishing I opted for short.
I do hope they win game five though. A friend of mine is going to the game and I imagine that going to the last game of the sweep isn’t going to be a fun one to be at.
I was very pessimistic for the Sharks going into the third period. Most of the game was played in the Sharks’ zone, they couldn’t get past the Wings’ blue line cleanly, and the face-off circle was even this time around. The kicked goal was only inches from going in off Datyuk’s stick, and Seto’s goal at the end of the first, while earned and clean, was still kinda flukey.
Then in the third, particularly after Thornton’s goal, the Wings were on their heels and making mental lapses.
Game four, you mean? I kinda want that, too, so I can maybe grab tickets to a game five in San Jose. They usually sell off a few hundred upper-bowl seats if you can wait in line a couple hours during a weekday.
(Oh, and for those counting, that’s six wins in a row for the Sharks. )
Wings go down 3 games to none and are 0-3 in playoff games I have attended. I’m wondering if I should ever go to another playoff game again. Flyers are down 3-0 too, which does make me feel a little better.
Ugh.
Hey Gary, I’m woefully ignorant of the rest of the league. <knock on wood>Who do you think the Sharks stand the best chance against, Chicago or Vancouver? I know in the regular season that the Sharks have owned the canucks.
Canucks played like crap last night…it’s like the defensemen never even showed up.
This is what killed them last year.
I think the Sharks are easily better than either team, but I’d choose Vancouver if I had to pick. I think the individual matchups, along with style of play, favors San Jose against them more than against Chicago. Plus there’s a little less travel, and no time-zone changes.
Oof. First period just about over and Detroit is up 4-0 with Johan Franzen having a natural hat trick. If nothing else, this means that Detroit can’t lose a fourth game by a score of 4-3.
