The 2010 Stanley Cup Playoff Thread

The CBC coverage did the same thing. It was a bit of a stealth goal - I think the only person who saw it go in was Patrick Kane. Even on the replay it was a little hard to see.

There was a video review (I heard the PA announcer announce it), but the TV coverage guys didn’t seem to notice that either. I guess the goal was allowed, though

Yah, it was truly bizarre to watch. That said, I think the goalie knew right away —he stopped moving, which would have left the net undefended (or rather, did leave the net undefended — it just didn’t matter.)

When it comes to goaltending, the shots that you miss are far more important than the shots you stop. I mean, what more could Philadelphia’s defence done to prevent the Sharp or Kane goals?

Well at least none of the Thug teams won it. Congrats Hawks. I missed the hate but respect thing the Wings always had with you guys. Maybe Toronto will find some luck someday and it will be back like the good old days of respected rivalry like the 80’s Norris.

Watching it in French on RDS, the exchange went something like this:

Play-by-play guy: And he scores…uh…no…wait…
Analyst guy: No, I think you’re right…it’s in the net…I think
PBP: Did it end up on the camera? (as the screen shows the in-net camera panning left and right)
A: (probably having seen replays on his own screen by now) No, it’s stuck in the corner…
PBP: The Hawks have won the Stanley Cup!.. or are they reviewing that?
Camera to celebrating team as Kane bowls over Niemi
PBP: I guess they won!

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Ugh…the Norris Division in the 80s generally wasn’t home to very good hockey, particularly in the 86-87 season when the St. Louis Blues won the division with 79 points, a game under .500.

Still, the Norris was fairly entertaining in its own way, particularly if you liked clutch-and-grab-and-beat-em-up. Lots of good goons like Wendel Clark, Bob Probert, Basil McRae, etc.
