The 2010 Stanley Cup Playoff Thread

Yes!! Jimmy broke his playoff cherry. The big guys played to the aim, the little guys threw in some big timers, and the refs didn’t throw everything in the shitter.

Phew. What a game in Phoenix.

That… was the greatest hockey game I’ve ever seen.

Go Sharks!

Coincidentally, that was my sentiment last year (substitute Crosby for Ovechkin). Don’t worry, I didn’t puke (though I did get queasy).

I’m a bit surprised at all the folks picking Phoenix over Detroit. I’ll chalk it up to wishful thinking.

I didn’t think they were that much better.

Ottawa still looks good in this series. They haven’t lost on home ice yet.

Ottawa was spending way too much time in their own zone. They need to get better breakouts and get sustained pressure on the Penguins. Ottawa was just chipping the puck out of their zone way too much last night, which allowed Pittsburgh to dump it right back in and keep the pressure on.

If it helps, I’m a wings fan. Wishful thinking it’s not. Detroit is riding a rookie goalie and the backup has played one game since the olympics. Their offense spent much of the season playing predictable and stationary, which you can attribute to injuries if you want. Defensively, they’ve been porous.

Simply put, Detroit has a lot of flaws. Seeing a team like Phoenix beating them in six games is far from wishful thinking.

The Flyers came out swinging tonight, Brodeur was the only reason the Devils made it to OT. I guess I shoouldn’t have picked the Devils in 5 here. Also the Blackhawks wake up, and shutout the Preds.

OUCH!

Damn short OT in Colorado. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

I can’t imagine what is going to happen in San Jose if they lose in the first round this year…

Incredibly frustrating game last night. Ottawa, I though, carried the play and had the better chances, but the Penguins were able to capitalize on the few chances they had and Ottawa couldn’t.

If I’m Clouston I seriously consider swapping Regin in for Spezza on the top PP unit. Spezza is killing us with his no-look passes into the teeth of the PKers’ box.

Game 3 of the Habs-Caps goes tonight at Le Centre Bell. Varlamov is in, Theodore is out, and it will be Halak again for the Habs.

I still think Montreal has a chance. Not a great chance, but a chance nonetheless.

Sorry for getting in late to the thread…I won’t try to predict the winners of the first round, but I am rooting for Caps, Pens, Sabres, Devils, Kings, Coyotes, Chicago annnnnnnnd…

Avs!

(Boo Sharks!)

That was crap. Where was the defence?

The debate continues…Price or Halak?

I’m in the minority and against the locals in my opinion, but I like Varlamov better than Theodore.

I just think he’s got the stones to pull it off.

C-A-P-S-CAPS! CAPS!CAPS!

Fuck the Crapitals!!! LET’S GO PENS!!! LET’S GO PENS!!! LET’S GO PENS!!!

After his performance last night, I’m inclined to agree.

Go Caps!!!

Defence is a rumour in Montreal, and has been for about the last decade.

I’d give Price the game 4 start. They’ve got nothing to lose.

Guys, I am absolutely at my limit with NHL officiating. The way that referees favour the top teams is just disgusting. The refs in the Ottawa-Pittsburgh series saw-off scrums when it’s an Ottawa skill player against a Pittsburgh goon and only take the Ottawa goon when he gets into it with a Pittsburgh player. Fisher gets the stick knocked out of his hands by a slash with no call, while Volchenkov gives a guy a little tap and somehow gets a hooking call. It goes on and on, and I’m just spending the game screaming at the TV.

I’m also well past my limit with Spezza. Glue his ass to the bench already.
