Tom Poti is out for Game 7, and it looks like his spot will be taken by Karl Alzner.
The lord works in mysterious ways.
Wings showed up tonight. On to San Jose. I wasted all my money going to game 6, it was terrible. Yet, I had a great time tonight watching game 7 on tv. Ironic, isn’t it?
And Phoenix didn’t show up. If they had played that bad at the start of the series, Detroit wouldn’t have even needed four games to beat them. Their physical game was a shadow of it’s former self. There was no pressure. They stopped playing like they wanted to win and started playing like they were scared to lose.
Now on to San Jose and another 10:30 start time.
So now the whole league is rooting for the Sharks?
Phoenix showed up. They just got beaten all over the rink. That was game 7 after all.
No…not down here in So-Cal…I’m picking the lesser of the TWO GREAT EVILSsup[/sup]…and that would be Detroit.
Montreal up 2-0 with 3 minutes to go. Biggest upset? A team as dominate as Washington losing in the first round?
2-1
Caps are hanging in there…
And a Caps power play with 1:44 left in the third!
Holy crap.
This game is exactly why Mike Green didn’t make Canada’s Olympic team. That second goal killed the Capitals, and his penalty to give the Habs their first goal was idiotic.
They didn’t get beaten. They gave up. They went from playing a high pressure physical game where the harried the puck carrier as soon as they crossed the blue line to collapsing three men around their net. That’s what gave Detroit the room they needed to play their puck possession style. Phoenix played like a team that was scared to lose instead of a team that wanted to win. They hunkered down into a timid, defensive posture.
If indeed Phoenix got beaten all over the rink, it’s because they gave up most of the territory.
Shocker!
Round 2
East:
(4)Pittsburg vs (8)Montreal
I like the Caps and Ovechkin, but they choked last year and choked even more this year. Montreal’s win was the result and their cindrella story is gonna come to an end against Cindy Crosby, Maxine and the Pens. Pens in 5.
(6)Boston vs. (7)Flyers
Flyers in 6
West:
(1)Sharks vs (5)Wings
I can’t bet against the Wings, so I say Detroit in…6?
(2)Blackhawks vs. (3)Canucks
This is gonna be tight. 7 games definitely. I guess the winner will be Chicago. Tough call.
DAMMIT!!!
Caps lose. I can’t believe it. Listening to the announcers talk about how powerful they were during the regular season and the stats they’ve racked up, and then they go down like this. Grrr…
Excuse me, I need to go find a dog to kick…
Hope you’re as accurate as you were early in the thread when you predicted a Caps sweep.
Edited to add: I think the Caps played a slightly stronger game than the Habs, but Halak still saved it.
Slightly stronger? The Habs were outshot 42-16 tonight.
Vastly stronger; the Caps were the better team in every respect except that Halak stood on his head.
It happens. It’s hockey.
runs wildly through thread, chanting the Olé! song
That was awesome! Montreal is partying tonight (sadly, I’m studying - fucking Thermodynamics) !
First Ovie, now Crosby. Easy as pie!
