I wouldn’t buy anything just for the cards. The market for them has crashed so hard that even if you luck into a foil dropping, it’s likely worth just a couple dollars.
I have been going and ‘farming’ cards for games I do own. Just let it idle in the background and sell the cards as they drop. Not worth a lot but I’ve probably made between $10-$12 since the sale began by selling cards. I’ve only spent $5.60 on games so I’m actually filling my Steam wallet rather than depleting it. All told, I have $34 right now in my Steam wallet, all from card sales, but that’s been since the beta.
Even that’s only worth it if you’re sitting at your computer anyway. On a per hour basis, you’d make more by working in a Chinese sweatshop.
This is correct. Furthermore, there are both good and bad endings for each character. I’ve often wondered if I should try to create the optimal 5 playthroughs to get the entire game.
Oh that’s awesome. Sounds like a ton of replayability.
Been playing UnEpic and haven’t been able to put it down. It’s a Metroidvania type side scrolling platformer with RPG trappings. HUGE castle to explore, lots of customization in your character, and apparently even has multiplayer!
Was looking at The Swapper, which seems to be similar to Trine/Braid/The Cave. Can you tell I love these side scrolling puzzle platforming games? Any others on Steam people can recommend?
Picked up Doom 3 BFG Edition over the weekend. I have the game already (not on Steam) but $5 was too good a deal to pass up! Damn these Steam sales, enticing me to rebuy games I already have! But they’re so cheap…
I’m upset I missed the Bioshock: Infinite sale from last week, I think it went down to $29.99. I didn’t know there was a time limit so I missed getting it. I hope it goes on sale again soon, I want to play that within the next year
Ditto on Mirror’s Edge. Totally worth it just for the different feel of it. And for me it wasn’t brutally difficult, but it definitely put me through my paces in spots.
KOTOR2 holds up very well IMO. A bit old school as far as graphics and gameplay, but not at all in an annoying way, I found. I definitely found it worthwhile and recommendable. IIRC I used some community patch for it (should be easy to find with Google, if I’m thinking of the right game) that restored some of the quests that were left out of the official release. I’m not a huge Star Wars fan at all, but KOTOR I and II have increased my appreciation of the franchise quite a bit.
Asymetric means the teams are entirely different, but balanced. There aren’t many games like that. But in NS2 you have space marines and aliens and they play completely differently, yet the balance is pretty good.
It’s surprisingly small for a GTA clone. I’ve finished it, been fairly thorough, and still haven’t put in more than 30 hours.
It’s a lot of fun. Great voice acting really helps to sell the story, and you’re pushed along at a good pace. Occasionally annoying pauses and retellings of certain parts, but all-in-all, a sweet little game.
Right, one of the most famous Asymmetric games is Starcraft. All the races play very differently (which is the asymmetry part of the equation), but overall are very balanced.
I have it through Humble. I won’t install it to check, but I doubt there would be a problem if they’re selling it currently. Also, I think I played in on Vista with no problems, and usually if it can run in one it can run in the other.
I installed and ran Psychonauts with no problems on Win7 64-bit. Didn’t play much of it (I was just farming the cards) but it installed and played smoothly showing the intro scenes and beginning tutorial missions.
Yeah, this one got its hooks into me and I played it a bunch. Polished it off in 17 hours. Really fun game - my only real complaint is that I wish it had been a bit deeper in terms of customization and character unlocks. I quite liked the focus on melee combat over gunfighting.
I see that the summer sale ends 22 July. Just to be clear, does this mean that it ends at the very end of 21 July or at the very end of 22 July? That is, is “Offer ends 22 July” inclusive or exclusive of 22 July? I’d hate to miss the last chance at some of the deals.
