The 2013 Steam Summer Sale has begun!

Just a glitch, it seems. Up to 24€ now. Oh well.

If anybody is interested I’ll go in on a Orcs Must Die 2 complete 2 pack.

Have to say I am really loving Unepic and I think I am addicted to it.
It’s long and challenging, has multiple difficulty levels, different builds for your character (though "pure builds such as pure melee, pure caster, etc, don’t seem to work very well) and even a multiplayer mode. I checked out the forums and the creator (apparently it’s just one guy) is very active in the forums and very responsive to peoples gripes and suggestions. He’s responded to some negative feedbacks by asking people what they’d like to see and then making changes.

Highly recommended and a steal at 8 bucks! If you’re a fan of Castlevania/Metroid type side scrolling games you need this!

Also just picked up Torchlight 2 even though I’m set for games for at least the next year, because $5 was too good of a deal to pass up.
And I just noticed the Organ Trail (a remake of the old Oregon Trail game now featuring Zombies) is 2.99… Willpower, where are you when I need you! :o

Does it help to know that that’s a director’s cut of a free Flash game?

A few endorsements for today:

Tropico 4 is excellent. It is complex, it is pretty, it has a nice soundtrack, and it’s funny. I have gotten hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it. Most of the DLC packs are worth getting.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is easily worth three bucks.

Mount & Blade: Warband is pretty fun. The single player mode doesn’t have a whole lot of depth, but it does mounted combat well. If you want to check out the series, I cannot stress this enough: Only buy Warband. Do not under any circumstances buy the original. Don’t bother with With Fire & Sword unless you think that Warband suffers from a severe lack of slow-to-load guns. Only buy Warband.

It’s a great game and is easily worth a lot more. Get it if that’s the price, folks. Heck, get it if it is more.

Or a lack of plot.

It’s always such a tough decision about the games in my second and third tier of interest. Do I get them now, just so I have them, but may not get around to playing them for a while, or hold off expecting they won’t be touched , and wait for the winter sale when they are a notch cheaper, but risk having an itch and having to pay more in the regular season to get it.

They have the version with all the DLC available for just a couple bucks more, which is a better deal than buying a couple separately.

Not a lot of Mac OS games in the Summer Sale so far; kinda bumming me out.

Thank you, er, I guess :stuck_out_tongue:
I forgot how sadistic the original game was. The first playthrough I made it pretty far but kept running out of fuel. Since you can only scavenge for food, I kept having to stop and do that, then keep trying to find someone to trade my food to for fuel. Also, the other party members seem kind of useless, doing nothing but gobbling up all the food and not helping whatsoever.
So after that I’d spend 5 hours scavenging for fuel at the start, an hour on bullets, and 2 hours on food. Then I’d kill everyone else in the party right at the start . That didn’t work too well either, I’d get hit by dysentry, or bitten by a zombie, or something like that.

Oh well it was fun for an hour…

Isn’t being bummed out kind of a perpetual state for a gamer with a Mac?

This is what I imagine when a Mac user complains about lack of games. Crummy game selection on Macs isn’t exactly a new state of affairs.

I’m always bummed out when I see Mac games taking up valuable shelf space.

Old Mac vs. PC video by the Red vs. Blue guy.

But if you say, buy a game, then “switch,” you’d still own the other OS version, right?

Tropico 4 is on sale too. $ 8 for the collector’s bundle including all DLCs. Since it’s (like the previous iterations of the game) one of my favourite games, I thought I’d mention it.

It’s management game. You begin as the dictator of a small and poor Caribean Island in the early 50s and try to…well…make your island a powerhouse in the canned ananas market? Have it populated by a large and happy population? A popular touristic destination, with nice beaches and casinos (away from the slums)? Have as much money as you can on your Swiss bank account? At least you try to survive and stay in power until the end of the game (not doing so might be the result of amongst other things a communist uprising, losing a mistakenly fair election, being shot by your own palace guards, being overthrown by an American expeditionnary force, etc…

You create housing, churches, farms, mines, schools, etc…, let in (or not) immigrants, try to get subventions from the USA or USSR (preferably both) , organize (or not) elections and make promises accordingly, decide on salaries (especially that of your generals), have political opponents assassinated or make sure that poor old ladies have a roof over their head for free, try to keep your island relatively free of garbage and ciminals, etc… All that the while looking at what the islanders think (since you can see that), what they would want, whom they favor,…

All that with quite a lot of humour. It’s one of those games I always come back to from time to time. I would note though that it’s quite statistic intensive, with tons of graphs (last year’s banana exports, average income over the ten last years, population by age or political leaning, etc…). I’m not sure you need to actually use all this information to play, but I’m a micro-manager at heart, so I would never dare not to keep a close eye on these things. I mention it because I know some people are allergic to this kind of stuff.

I guess I should have read the thread first.

How French!

I can’t really tell, because I’m very clumsy with a keyboard, so I had quite a lot of troubles with fight actions, much more complex than in the first iteration. But this applies to any game require minimal dexterity (for instance Warband is mentioned in this thread. It would be a great game except for the fact that I couldn’t hit someone with my lance on a battlefield if my life depended on it). I have problems even with games like Skyrim.

Seriously, I don’t believe it’s going to be an issue. Tons of players have been playing it on a PC without any difficulties. And it’s definitely a great game with an interesting plot and stunning graphisms. It’s a must-have, in my opinion, for anybody who plays computer RPGs.

XCOM is 75% off, I’ll be thinking that over today. I’m not as keen as I might’ve been as I’ve already got a few games this week --more than enough, given how long it takes me to get through them-- and XCOM has been available for a lower price.

One I haven’t seen mentioned here is Euro Truck Simulator 2. It’s 75% off, too. It’s of interest beyond just simulator fans. Metacritic has it at 79 for critics and an impressive 8.4 for user reviews. It looks relaxing, and if you have multiple monitors (or even 3d monitors) it supports all that for extra immersiveness. Definitely something different, and the price is as low as it’s ever been. The original is also 75% off, but I’ve never looked into it.
