The 2013 Steam Summer Sale has begun!

The game was a PC game first and foremost. It’s built around mouse and keyboard, not the gamepad, however it plays great with a gamepad too. They did an overall good job there.

I’m finally playing Portal.

I hear there’s cake. Yum!

I know they’re pretty strict about sticking to factual posts over in General Questions, but c’mon, can we steer away from blatant inaccuracies in this thread?

Dungeon defenders 85% off, Sold.

Looking at my statistics there are clear categories off my time play

Never installed or played yet about 40%
Played less than 6 hours(ie. games I hated) about 25%
Played 25-50 hours.(okay games but pushed off by something better) 20%
played 135-340 hours(very good games, but not unlimited replay) 10%
Played 2500 hours+(excellent games, unlimited replay and variations ) 5% New Vegas, Skyrim, Borderlands2.

But not one single game in between those hour groupings.
And before you think I have no life,I have been on steam for years, and I often leave the game paused for hours, and on some occasion days when I forget the computer is on.

So, what, no cake then?

There’s definitely cake.

Anybody interested in trading the sale cards? I have extras for Chivalry, Dead Island, Prison Architect, Skyrim and Torchlight. I need Reus and Tomb Raider.

If we’re gonna do trading and stuff I’d suggest opening a new thread, that’s just going to clutter this one up.

Anyway, Civ 5 is one of the deals today. If you want to get in on the SDMB Multiplayer Civ 5 games, you’ll need the gold edition. If you already have the game, upgrading to the gold edition is $5.

Oh, good. I’d hate to think that nice lady would lie to me.

You’ve spent the equivalent of >300 24-hour days with no sleep on 3 games? Or do you mean 2500 hours spread amongst all of them? And 6 hours until you decide you hate sometime? I admire your commitment.

I don’t have any I hate, per se, and every game I intentionally bought I liked. Some were bundled, and I played once and set them down (“rhythm game? no thanks.”). Others I skipped out on the online content if it’s the main draw.

All kidding aside, I did just get Portal for the first time this week, but I’ve already finished it. I’m making pretty good progress on Portal 2; I’ve gotten to the chambers where Cave Johnson was testing the blue repulsion gel in the '50s.

Portal, sadly, gives me motion sickness. I’m glad I got it free with some bundled deal a while back. I think I’d love it but maybe 10-15 minutes of play and … erk. (Same thing happened with Morrowind, to the point that I didn’t even buy Oblivion.)

Latest deals:
Prison Architect $19.79 - still in alpha, with various deal packages to check out. One lets you write a bio for and name a prisoner. It’s basically SimPrison, and you have to consider the financial and moral implications of even small decisions, like the layout of your prison, if/where TVs are placed, and so on.
Natural Selection $6.24
Assassin’s Creed III $23.99
Counter Strike Global Offensive $5.09
Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed $7.49
Starforge Alpha $9.99
Omerta City of Gangsters $9.99
Worms Revolution (with level editor) $3.74
Saints Row The Third $4.99
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords $3.39

I have extras of them as well as Torchlight II.

Alright so I’m organizing SDMB games of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Get the gold edition for $7.50 (it has some multiplayer maps that everyone needs in order to play them together along with some other minor DLCs).

We played AC:Brotherhood and had fun with it, but the way the matchmaking worked made it hard to find a game after the post-sale slump. ACR is a little better in that regard. I’m also told it corrects some of the stupid aspects of ACB multiplayer and has some new and better modes.

The basic premise of multiplayer is basically a ripoff of The Ship, where you’re assigned another player as your assassination target, and another player gets you. So you have to blend in, sneak around, hunt your target, and kill them without raising an alarm. It’s pretty fun, there are various modes.

Anyway, if you were thinking about getting the game anyway, or it sounds interesting to you, pick up the gold pack (everyone has to have the DLC maps to play them and it’s only an extra 2 bucks), add me on steam and tell me you’re interested. I think we have 7 people in on it already and we’ll get more.

I found that the Source engine games (i.e. Half Life 2 and the Portals) made me nauseous too, but fiddling with the FOV in the graphics settings made it bearable for me.

I just picked up the gold edition, and I’m interested.

On another note, how did I not know there was an SDMB Steam group? If anyone wants to trade cards, my handle is born2late.

Steam Trading Cards thread, as suggested in this thread.

Wish I’d looked at this thread earlier. Is Deus Ex: Human Revolution worth $9.99?
