Well, remember the iron clad rule, “There’s always a first time for everything.” That means, after 2,000 years, the “first time” must be right around the corner. 
What might be lost in this election is we now have had two New World Popes in a row.

I went to Prevost’s Wikipedia entry and briefly scanned it – Chicago born & bred! – and the title changed to Pope Leo XIV by the time I scrolled back to the top!
How is he viewed? Conservative or progressive? Reformer? Cubs fan?
I read those philosophy-lite books when I was in my early teens. Seems a good match to me.
