Maybe being as close to John as it wound up being made it easier?
Not really. I considered John already for the previous one but had never heard of a demijohn before (I just Googled it). And I thought a trick is what a **john ** picked up. No?
Well, close… but not exactly. For instance, the teenage boy usually has a long shirt hanging down over the outside, not tucked in…
(But I was thinking “People who need to pull their pants up”, so it’s probably close enough…)
Maybe in some usages that’s right. But often you’ll hear TV or movie whores talk about their “tricks” and their “Johns” synonymously. Maybe I have relied too heavily on this usage as opposed to actual dictionary definitions. But (just now resorting to such) I find one M-W definition as: “a prostitute’s client.”

i always thought it was “prostitutes turned tricks for johns”

That sounds like equating johns with pimps.
Johns are tricks. Whores turn tricks with johns and sometimes this goes to the benefit of pimps. This is all hearsay as far as I am personally concerned. If any whores want to step in and clarify things, I’ll shut up.

It’s from Dr. Dre’s The Chronic. Anyone? Anyone?
Could this be stump? If so, I don’t get the Ogre connection. If not, I’m stumped.
Still not a clue, but it’s due to my absolute ignorance of rap. Any more clues?
I had to Google Dr. Dre. I guess I’m stumped too.

Yeah. Sorry, I was referring to “stump” as a style of movement–i.e., walking heavily. An ogre was the best thing I could think of for that category.
