The 2nd Presidental Debate October 7, 2008

I hate McCain with a passion, but the Lowell Observatory is here in AZ. He’s probably been there.

And he was there when the Meteor Crater was formed.

oh, I missed that bit re Medicare. thanks.
Here is a link to the Adler Planetarium:

Can’t find a direct reference to the “overhead projector”, but truly, it’s a venerable and needed institution.

Yeah, in National, no less. Er, Nashville.

I’m glad Obama mentioned that AIG retreat.

So that’s where he got that expression.

McCain wants to cut $1.3 trillion dollars from Medicare/Medicaid.

McCain is really flubbing his falsehood about Obama’s tax plans and I doubt the bulk of voters care about tariffs.

McCain is wrong re the small business re Obama.
where did this doubling of tax stuff come from? I’ve never heard that from McCain before.

Hey, John? I don’t have a kid… does that mean I don’t get a tax break?

Me too, as soon as he brought up executive compensation, I was hoping that was coming.

Tom–shut the fuck up. And now I see you as biased. He needs to cut off John at some point or else he’s lost me.

Suck it Tom.

I wonder if McCain knows how many millions of Americans don’t itemize their taxes or how little $5,000 would really help them.

McCain saying that he doesn’t want to raise taxes on anybody doesn’t fit very well with the question about sacrifices. It’s like he’s saying we can go on like we are without any pain.

I agree with Blondebear, this is a lot better than actually have to watch this drivel.

Obama’s answer on sacrifice (which turned into a debate on taxes) really scored with the audience on CNN’s ticker and McCain’s flatlined. Actually, he went into the negative a few times.

“Giving the average CEO a $700,000 tax cut” really scored with the audience.

“The straight talk express lost a wheel on that one.”

Awesome.

I’d like someone to ask what a health care tax credit is. How is it different from a deduction? If it’s not too different, why is that anything to get excited about? You only pay a few hundred dollars on an extra $5,000’s income, so how does that save people money worth talking about? A website I went to said it’s supposed to reduce the amount of taxes you owe rather than reduce your taxable income, which is nice, but who owes more than $5,000 in taxes? Not me, not Joe Sixpack, or anyone else who needs help paying for healthcare.

Did Brokaw just say two years instead of two minutes?

Obama needs to stop repeating himself, and McCain needs to stop attacking Obama and start answering the questions.

And I don’t think anybody buys that “our best days are ahead of us”. Stop with the pep talk.
