I really like it, though mostly in short spurts. It’s, by far, the most unique game on the 3DS, if not of the last couple years.
I really do hate the modern review system, where both price and game length are factored (heavily) into the game’s actual score. The game is really enjoyable despite these. However, if game length is a huge concern, then I’d return it. But if you’re looking for something novel and fun, I’d keep it (plus I’m guessing the concept at least intrigued you, since you picked it up.)
If you flick on the switch on the right hand side, it turns on your wireless connections so you can use wi-fi and Streetpass and the like. When you set up the internet through the main menu (under “settings”) I think that’s where you find the friend codes. If you PM me yours I’ll do in so in turn, and then we can figure out a time and place to drop the gloves!
(I also accept any and all other challengers on here. It’s nice to actually be able to chat and discuss your games with someone, rather than just with a random stranger!)
The 3D MIGHT help in 3D games like Mario Galaxy, where I rely on shadows to estimate my proximity to something. As I said in my other thread, I’m not sure if I want the 3DS, or wait for “3DS Lite”. The battery life is what’s got me on the fence.
I’ve had some trouble with Pilotwings, I get all into it and move the thing around like I would a controller and then it gets all blurry. But I’m getting better at keeping it still. It’s an issue but not a huge one.
Don’t get me wrong, this is hands down my favorite launch title so far. But landing is still a bitch, especially with the rocket pack. The only thing that helps you land is pressing the trigger buttons to see the ground beneath, and actually lining up the little black shadow of your character, but even that is a little testy.
Part of the problem is that the 3D seems to go in rather than pop-out, if that makes sense. The 3D in Pilotwings and Street Fighter is more of an issue of depth, that makes you look like you’re staring into a hole. So I can’t imagine how that’d help with landing. I’m hoping Mario is more…pop out when it gets released.

The camera should do that automatically as you near the landing zone, unless you changed the setting in the options. The altitude meter is also a giant help for landing–also, if you’re not using the L-button hover to land, you should because it’s a huge help.
The software included is as impressive as the 3D, I think. Face Raiders is mental fun, the AR cards work really well as long as you’re in a well-lit area, and I’m slightly obsessed with StreetPass Quest.
Rayman is my only 3D game at the moment, and despite scathing reviews I really enjoy it. The only problem is when perspective shifts drastically and my eyes mutiny for a second or so.
Yeah, that’s what I meant when I said “trigger buttons.” My bad!
Ok, I’m getting sick of Street Fighter. I got good at this game in my childhood by learning combos and how to sweep. Now some jerk with long nails can just tap his touch screen ad nauseam until he gets 40 Hadokens, and an ultra combo and wipes you out. It’s really cheapened the game.
If anyone else wants to add their Friend Codes on here and we all enter each others codes we can see when fellow dopers are online. Then we can play Street Fighter or any other games in the future.
So feel free to add me and I’ll add all of you guys.
