Dopers, if you like skating… you’ll need to come to Ottawa and try the canal! It’s the worlds LONGEST skating rink, weighing in at a hefty 7.8 km (4.875 miles if I did it right) and the ice is just amazing.

You start off at either the Dows Lake Pavillion or right by the Parliment Hill. Skating over a waterway constructed by Col. By to help British ships move quickly enough to Kingston (during the war of 1812?). There are even certain tour groups that have skating tours. Along the way, be sure to pickup a Beavertail. Mmm mmm GREAT!.
