The ‘Jackass’ Legacy

I am not here to say how I think Jackass is making people do stupid things. I really don’t care that much. about what stupid people do to occupy time. But one thing that I saw on a show called ‘Wild Boyz’ today really pisses me off. ‘Wild Boyz’ is a show where some of the people formally on Jackass do stupid things. Things like (in the episode I saw today) let vultures eat meat off of there bodies and have snapping turtles bite there noses. I really do not find those things wrong. I actually find some of that stuff funny. But what really put me over the edge was another stunt they did. The found an Endangered Florida Panther and followed it around. They then proceeded to walk closer and pet it. Some would say “What’s wrong with that?” Everything. First off, it is an ENDANGERED animal.

If some person can up and touched me, I would not pe happy. Parents teach kids not to mess with unfamiliar dogs for reasons- the dog may not be friendly, or it just may not like you. When it walks away, you should leave it alone. Also- they touched and petted it. I am not sure if that is against the law, but I do think that that would be highly frowned upon. The animal may not mind if they petted it, it might have let it, but they are making it more used to humans. Everyone knows that when you are nice to a stray cat or dog, it will probably come back. Feeding it teaches it where to get food. But seeing them follow and pet the panther… it really made me mad. Most likely they had animal experts and things- it may have been one in a zoo. But still… That was just plain wrong.

How is it’s endangered status relevant to petting? Surely it would only be relevant if they were trying to kill it.

It’s againts the law to pet marine mammals. Most interaction is considered harassment. I am not sure if the laws apply to land animals, but I would think it would effect them in some of the same ways.

Perhaps it could be that if the animal in question begins to become used to humans, tamer as it were, that could negatively impact its survival prospects.

Most animals have a better chance of surviving if they stay the fuck away from humans it seems.

Humans included.

It would be relevant if the panther injured/killed someone. Stuff like that happens and the first thing people talk about is destroying the animal.

Those idiots need to stick to drinking their own urine and giving each other paper cuts.

Yea, my first thought too was that the animal would get offed if it ended up killing Steve-O. It would be a mixed blessing.
