Where did you hear that? Corner depth is kind of a strength…
You make it sound like a bad thing. I’d much prefer Mendenhall getting 12-15 carries per game if it keeps him off the IR. This year there’s no one behind him.
I won’t pretend to be an expert on the Browns. That was just the impression I’ve had based on what I’ve seen so far which admittedly isn’t a whole lot yet.
And yeah, maybe it will be for the best overall if they limit Mendenhall more than they have. He can’t last at his current pace.
The Browns seemed kind of mediocre to me on tape regarding DB’s. Their only strength, as far as I can see, is their running game and Cribbs on special teams. If Hillis and Harrison combine for 200+ yards, they’ll win, but I really doubt they can do this against the steelers, ravens, jets, etc.
OK, so the Steelers are off - are there any teams we want to see lose today? Anyone I should be rooting against?
Well… I thought with Seneca Wallace starting, it’d be a close, hard fought game. With McCoy starting it’s going to be ugly. He’s clueless.
It was going to be ugly anyway. Can you really sit there and with a straight face assert that the Browns, this year’s Cleveland Browns, are going to make a game of it starting Seneca Wallace? In Pittsburgh, the week Ben comes back from a BS suspension with something to prove?
It’s one thing to be a homer. I can appreciate that you are going to try to find a way to convince yourself that the Browns are not only going to win, but should. This whole thread is devoted to my passion for doing the same. The difference, sadly (for you, anyway), is that the Steelers actually are good, whereas the Browns are not, have not been, and do not look to be anytime in the future. Seneca Wallace is not part of that future. McCoy could scarcely do worse than the usual Browns quarterback, they might as well get him some time. He’ll learn a lot this week, mostly about how to survive, but you have to start somewhere.
I love the Steelers but it always seems no matter how bad the Browns are or how good the Steelers are, the Browns always seem to play them tough. I hope the Steelers don’t take the game too lightly.

It was a hard fought game against Atlanta…they were winning in the 3rd quarter. Wallace has played very well. Its too bad he’s out, I’m assuming, for the Steelers game?
And whomever mentioned not overlooking the Browns, well yeah. Its a divisional game, they tend to be tough.
ETA: that would be quimby!

I take the other approach. I never worry about the Steelers losing to the Browns. I figure if they lose to the Browns, there must be something wrong with them and it’s a pretty good indicator that the Steelers aren’t going anywhere that season. To check my theory, I just did a quick check and in every one of the Steelers’ Super Bowl appearances, they defeated the Browns in both regular season games

Yes. The Browns were leading an improved Tampa Bay team with a minute left in the game. They lost to a pretty decent Chiefs team by 2 points on a fourth quarter field goal. They beat Cincinatti who’d previously won 8 straight in the AFC North, and they were trailing Atlanta by 3 in the fourth quarter driving for the game winning score (despite having like 7 injuries that game on offense) when it ended with a Pick 6. The Baltimore game was a 3 point game until the final 2 minutes.
The Browns had halftime leads in most of those games, and they all came down to one score in the fourth quarter. There was also a pick 6 in almost every game where one play swung the game so much…
I didn’t say they’d beat the Steelers, but that it’d be a hard fought game. It’s you who’s being ridiculous by insisting that a team that’s had every game come down to the final drive would stand no chance at making the game competitive.
I think the Browns are better than their record indicates but I really don’t think it will be good for Colt McCoy’s development to throw him out there against Dick Lebeau’s defense coming off a bye week. Of course, as a Steeler fan, I’m really not hoping to see McCoy develop into anything special but I almost feel sorry for him.
They don’t really have a choice, unless they use Ratliff, signed freshly off the Pats practice squad.
Again we will not get them in my area! I’m not sure that I can endure the redneck bar for them again though… I may have to go into town.

Yeah, I know. At least he has Hillis to take some of the pressure off him.
Partly. Hillis has two leg injuries. He was limping around trying to finish last game. And they got rid of Harrison, so there’s no one on the team that can run.
Ugly.
Well, Colt McCoy almost made it through his first possession in the NFL without throwing an interception. Too bad the refs screwed up the measurement after the 3rd and 1 and gave him a first down and more time to throw it to the other team
Heh, and there goes Roethlisberger doing the same thing. D’oh!

Not really his fault. Hit the receiver in the hands.
Protection has been excellent for him, he’s just making slow reads.
