The Alina Habba Pit thread

It’s a financial calculation besides revenge and attempted public humilation of the subject. Mangoman and/or the mouthpiece do the whole news conference and courthouse steps act. He later amplifies the message (lock her up, deep state, lamestream media,…) on social platform. Accompained by a $$$$ pitch to the rubes of course. He knows full well that the end result will never be mentioned on the propaganda sites that service the cult. The suckers will continue to believe he’s winning, so much winning. Own the news cycle.

He’ll delay/ appeal and complain. Did the income and ego slathering exceed the sanctions? Then its a plus.

Even better.

Sitting on a barstool, five or six years ago, a geezer acquaintance opined “Damn, Melania is one gorgeous woman!” I said she reminded me of Boris Badinov’s co-conspirator, Natasha Fatale. Acquaintance was geezerly than me by seven years, and he said “who?” I explained, but he didn’t get the ref.

To “beauty is skin deep”, we should remember that “ugly goes to the bone”. I think that Alina is good-looking, and an Amanita mushroom is pretty. And advertises what it is.

Dan

A static posed pic of her shows a slender, expensively dressed, skillfully made up, and well put-together woman of moderate age who looks younger than her actual age. Sounds like a winner so far.

A 30 second vid of her spewing her spew shows what’s beneath the skin. Not nice at all. Run away! Run away!

That doesn’t even look like him, and it’s even creepier looking than the real thing. ~shudder~

Not possible. That would require he actually give someone a check.

That’s great! You should add it to this Wikipedia page: List of humorous units of measurement, specifically for vexatiousness.

Hehehe, beautiful. I’ll think of her as “walking amanita muscaira” from here on out.

I acknowledge the point. However, I’ve long believed that you can tell a lot about a person’s character from their appearance, specifically their mannerisms and common facial expressions.

For instance, one can probably safely assume from numerous pictures just like this that this is not a kind man:

And likewise, that this is not a humble man:

This, OTOH, was a man who was both of those things. That’s Nicholas Winton, a great humanitarian who saved hundreds of child refugees from the Nazis in 1939:

Maybe there’s a danger that this is straying into the territory of sanctimonious political correctness. As I said earlier, I have difficulty disentangling what I know about someone’s character with my perception of their appearance. It has nothing to do with men or women specifically. But speaking as a guy, with respect to women I often find women attractive who may not be judged conventionally “beautiful” but who are smart, kind, and compassionate. Conversely, I find someone like Alina Habba repulsive.

If there’s any “generic misogyny” in any of this, please point it out.

I can’t right now recall who originally said, “the brain is the sexiest organ”, but yes, I am totally on your side on this.

And it applies to any genders.

I used to think that the brain was the sexiest organ too, but then I remembered what was telling me that.

I’d argue it has close competition with the skin. I’ve met some fun brainless people, but I can’t imagine a skinless one would be comfortable company.

The generic misogyny is that if Trump’s lawyer were a man, no one would be discussing whether or not he was attractive. But since she’s a woman, that’s a REALLY IMPORTANT THING ABOUT HER. So it gets a lot of play in this thread.

Also, i don’t know

But came upon this frozen image as i was scrolling back through this thread, and i thought he looked smug and dishonest. I agree that freeze-frame images of people talking aren’t flattering.

As above.

I can’t believe people don’t even see it.

A woman’s attractiveness (or lack thereof) is apparently very important

A man? Perhaps you may get the odd comment about how repulsive some of his qualities might be or if his clothes or hair look a bit odd but there’s not going to be dozens of posts over several weeks debating how attractive he seems to be or not to be. Those kinds of comments die off within a matter of hours not rage on after several weeks

The double standard is glaringly obvious yet posters in this thread alone have not only missed it but have dismissed the idea it even exists. Most of the posters to the board have gotten better about misogyny over the last couple decades but blindspots obviously still exist

I’m just going to assume that you’re a terrible judge of character. I can look at pictures (plural – not just one picture) of a person and think “good person” or “total asshole” and be correct a vast majority of the time. Not 100% – but damn close.

Look at posed pictures where he’s trying to look good, where he’s reasonably happy, where his mouth isn’t hanging open. He still looks pretty smug and arrogant all the time.

Feel free to make any assumptions about me that float your boat. It’s still a symptom of general misogy that there are dozens of posts in this thread about the appearance of Trump’s lawyer. That simply wouldn’t be the dynamic if the lawyer were a guy. And it’s a burden to women that we are always judged heavily on our physical attractiveness.

Wut?? The last three pics I posted were of men, the first two of Trump looking like the belligerent asshole that he is, and the last one of a great humanitarian that you thought looked “smug”. By all accounts Nicholas Winton was the exact opposite of that – self-effacing, dedicated to self-sacrifice and the elevation of the human condition.

After watching the movie One Life I looked him up on Wikipedia and found him looking much more the part than Anthony Hopkins, looking like the truly kind man that he was. Maybe I’m biased because Winton looked a little like my father. But can you honestly tell me that you can look at images of Winton and then of Trump and can’t see the distinction between humanitarian and predator?

And none of this has anything to do with misogyny. Yes, misogyny is a big problem, but my God, we’re so over-sensitized here!

I have a few thoughts…

The discussion of her appearance is somewhat relevant here (as it would not be in most other discussions) because that is one of the main reasons she is his lawyer. And no, I just don’t mean in a “Trump only hires women he sees as attractive because he’s a slimeball” way (though there is some truth to that) but more importantly, because her role is as more of a spokesperson than an actual lawyer. It has been observed that she serves to go on talk shows and hold press conferences to argue his case in front of the court of public opinion more than in real court. (Which makes sense, because she definitely hasn’t demonstrated much aptitude for real law.) So it is relevant in the same way that it’s relevant when discussing a model or actress; it’s part of the job in her case.

On the other hand, when the discussion becomes largely about that issue, I admit that in my gut it seems creepy and that’s probably my intuition picking up on potential misogyny. So from that standpoint I agree with you. And when I first started this thread, I was concerned about that very thing which is why I ended my OP with a disclaimer about that sort of thing. I’m of course not a mod and I certainly don’t own a thread just because I create it, so I have no authority, but to me the discussion has gotten far too focused on that aspect. I mean, for fucks’ sake that’s the least important thing about her.

Well, it’s true that if this was a discussion about a male lawyer there would be no misogynistic dynamic but that’s just a tautological argument and therefore meaningless. If you are trying to suggest that discussions of Trump’s male lawyers never focus on appearance, I’m guessing you’ve never read any of the Rudy Guiliani threads.

But still, I do think a hyper-focus on her looks is missing the point and veering into misogyny so let’s just go back to talking about how bad she compares to a first year law student and speculate about how much shit is coming her way both legally and professionally for her malfeasance.
