The Amazing Race 12/21

Seriously!!! Not only was it on an hour earlier but “to be continued”??? Come on.

WTF was that?! “To Be Continued”?! Since when do they have two-part eps that aren’t the finale?

And who the hell was that sleeping on the bench?

  1. Bunching at the end like that was just incredibly stupid. I mean, bad enough that they bunch at the beginning of every damn leg, but that at least has some rationale in keeping each leg competitive. But what earthly reason is there to have a bunching point late in a leg?

  2. Continue this!

Assholes.

Trebuchet. Not catapult.

Different mode of operation entirely…

Medieval geek!

I’m just pissed off. Gus and Hera were doing well and now they’ll probably fall behind again because of the damn internet cafe.

But on a positive note, we finally saw someone stand up to Jon. What an a-hole. I’m glad the cabbie kicked him out and you know Jon felt like an ass.

I was pointing that out to Daughter One, as well as mentioning that I need a hat like Gus (with the built-in GPS and death-ray) when she turned to me and said, in her sweetest voice, “Shut up, Dad.”

That’s my girl.

What scares me is that I knew that – and I knew that because I hang out here – and I knew all over the country Dopers would be grooving on the trebuchet.

I LOVED Jonathan trying to get Gus to tell him how they got the tickets out from under them. Right. I can see that conversation as it happened in Gus’s mind:

“You want me to tell you how we outsmarted you, while you’re still in the race against us? If I didn’t already know you were out of your mind, that would prove it!”

There is simply too much bunching going on this Race. There were three instances this episode alone, and only one was a natural bunch (the airport, which wasn’t even a full bunch). C’mon…how much would it have cost the producers to pay to have the cafe open that day? Or to give the Racers access to the stadium that night? All of the bunching this season is just cheapness and laziness on the part of the producers.

Do you think maybe this two-parter is a result of there not being enough official eliminations, because someone gets sent home disqualified in the near future? praypraypraypraypray

Are you kidding? Assholes like Jon never feel like an ass, because he’s always right and everyone else is screwing him over. I bet Jon is thinking tonight “man, I bet that asshole cabbie sure feels dumb now!”.

I caught the catapult/trebuchet thing too. Yay geeks!

Hey Fenris, I know you’re outraged by the ‘to be continued’ but did you really spot * & the Playmate leaving two hours earlier than team Vapid Models this ep

Don’t look at this until you’ve watched this ep

Judging from the traffic signs when H&A got lost, the castle in Eger was 100 km (60 miles) from Budapest. I find it difficult to believe it took Lori and Bolo until nightfall to drive their vehicle that distance. They must have been waiting for the relief truck for hours.

But the bigger question is how bad is the penalty going to be for H&A and their idiocy in getting to the train station. 24 hours? I certainly hope it’s long enough to knock them out of the race.

I think the café is the only legitimate bunch in this ep, because they knowingly gave teams unreliable transportation to go 100 km (I checked on Mapquest).

Wait…I missed this part, apparently. What “idiocy at the train station”?

Word. In this episode, * really reminded me of a gnat. Or a chigger. I forget which. Either way, the sumbitch needs to be swatted.

Barbarian – what idiocy? Seriously. I am afraid I missed something. Did the clue say

“Take a taxi to the train station”?

Because otherwise it looks like they were OK. Did I miss something?

I loved them having to deal with those cars. It was so revealing of people’s personalities and team dynamics how it all played out – and was so much in the flavor of the local area. Excellent challenge.

As far as the other is concerned – I’m with you rockle. I think what they did might not have been smart, but I don’t think it was against the instructions they received.

Am I a bad person because I was hoping it was? I really don’t like Hayden, for no particular reason. She just gives me the icks. Anyway …

I loved hating Colin last year. He was fun to root against.

Jonathan is just like watching some pathetic documentary about some con who believes the crap he says. He’s gross. Like televised maggots.

Seven short days ago, I wouldn’t have known this. Now, however, I have listened to Peter Jackson on the Return of the King commentary. I have been enlightened!

By the by, I am liking Gus and Hera and Kris and Jon more and more.

Oh, I almost forgot in the whole “WTF WAS THAT!?” moment…

Did Jon and Kris dye their hair at the last Pit Stop? Because I don’t remember either one being blond!

Or have they just been SO under the radar so far that they were pretty much invisible before this?

They did a “to be continued” before. I don’t remember which season, but it was in Australia when it happened.

I noticed when Jonathan and Victoria were in the Trabi that she had (what looked to be) a couple bruises on her arm. Hmm…
