The Amazing Race 31 premieres April 17th

Colin has seriously changed. I’m taking mellow jazz, bongo drums and the big bag o’ weed. Be interesting to see if he keeps the laid-back going when things get really tough.

If there was a whole segment in there they cut out, I’m really disappointed in that. Not disappointed, however, in seeing Corinne and Eliza go - not that they were bad racers or anything but jeez, just race and stop thinking you’re brilliant because you’re a bitch. You’re not, you’re just a bitch.

High chance of a full meltdown next week - it’s about that time when fatigue really starts to kick in and there were beginning signs this week from Rachel.

I couldn’t believe when when Corinne (or was it Eliza? either way) was talking about the scooter challenge: “Of course we can’t do this; we didn’t grow up poor in a trailer park.”

Talk about leaning into your villain persona…

I wonder if one of the TAR producers is a Top Gear fan. Top Gear also did the scooter training course when they did a show in Vietnam.

A question about the Victor and Nicole relationship for anyone familiar with them from Big Brother. Maybe it’s the editing, but it seems like he is waaay into her, and half the time she can barely tolerate being next to him. Am I totally off base?

I think they may have edited the Detour a bit, too. Rachel & Elissa were shown leaving their waterwheel in next-to-last place, but they must have arrived at the badminton in 6th in order to lose two matches before beating Corinne & Eliza.

“Jeremy Clarkson, fail.”

How many scooter riders did they say there are in Vietnam? Maybe there’s more than one school.

Yeah, that water wheel probably did not take as long as it was made out to be. The Afghanimals got to the Detour first but dropped several places by the time they got to the Pit Stop. That must have been due to losing some matches of badminton.

Based on their BB season together, that sounds about right.

On their BB season, Nicole basically laid in bed all day every day (and whined the whole time) with a guy named Corey, but I think they broke up shortly after the season wrapped. Or maybe a year, I dunno.

Anyway, that whole season, one of the big ongoing dramas in the house was Nicole (in bed, of course) whining about how Victor liked her and was super creepy about it. And he was. He’d lay down in bed between Nicole and Corey, and guffaw out his obnoxiously loud laugh, and stay there until finally they’d get up and leave.

I was surprised when TAR came around and they were a couple. As she said on TAR, Nicole helped vote Victor out of the house THREE times that season.

This past summer on Big Brother, they had a segment where Victor proposed to her in the BB house, she accepted and they had a little party with that season’s houseguests and some of the guests from their seasons.

Ah, yeah, I gave up on BB two episodes into the first celebrity one and haven’t watched any BB since.

Not that I really care… but what was the origin of the death vendetta between the last 2 teams, anyway?

None that I’m aware of. Three of the four people on those two teams are hateful and vindictive, and they were battling it out for last place, so the bitterness and animosity seems about right.

I slightly disagree with that…Rachel and Elissa are shallow and self-centered and whiny, but they’re not mean except when they’re returning fire (and believe me, neither is on my must-watch list). Corinne and Eliza, though…hoo, boy! Toxic and always have been.

Courtesy bump to remind the board that TAR resumes tonight with a two episodes starting at 8 pm ET.

Kinda ho hum episodes other than the bait-and-switch with the Burj Dubai. Pretty easy to guess that it would be non-elimination since the order they got to the zip line would be the order they get to the mat.

For episode 2, I’m still against the head-to-head, especially at the end of a leg. Once we knew that would be the next challenge, it sucked the tension out of everyone else still working on the detour, since they would still have a shot no matter what. Also, did it end up where everyone won the head-to-head on their second try?

The losing team in match n was the winning team in match n+1 every single time.

Head-to-heads in general suck, but this one was particularly galling.

The funniest bit in the history of TAR:
Rachel — I just want to show my daughter [sniff] that women can be strong [sob] …

[SOUND: Loser-at-the-mat music begins.]

Rachel (cont’d) — I want her to be proud [sob; choke] proud of who she is …

[SOUND: Sappy music swells.]

Rachel (cont’d) — … and I want her to know that [sob] … I want her to know that her mother …

Elissa — Rachel, shut up.
Not once, but twice! Brilliant!!

The first Head to Head they didn’t show even though it severely changed team rankings. This second Head to Head they did show even though it changed no rankings whatsoever. Where’s the logic in that?

Head to Head challenges in the international versions are usually placed between the Detour and the Roadblock, so teams still have a chance to make up time. The placement right before the Pit Stop is just lame.

At this point, the teams are starting to be affected by race fatigue. Chris and Brett rushed up the minaret, completely missing the clue box. Tyler and Korey over-confidently didn’t bother counting the steps. Janelle ran off through the market looking for a Rolex watch, not bothering to carefully read the clue or look at her surroundings. The Afghanimals couldn’t even answer a simple quiz after how many tries. And Elissa has had enough of Rachel’s whining. (I agree, the last bit was genius.)

To me, this was what made the NEL so obvious. Showing so much of Rachel’s whining about losing before she actually got eliminated could only mean that it was going to be a NEL.

I loved the dinosaur egg hunt where they had to dress up in the T-Rex outfits. Watching them run around in those suits gave me the giggles.

Thank goodness for CBS OnDemand! We recorded the shows Wednesday on the DVR because we had a HS graduation to go to, and when we sat down to watch last night, TAR was interrupted by about 90 minutes of severe weather coverage. :frowning:

thank you for noticing that too! I thought she looked like she was being held hostage for the first few episodes! she never really looks at him. I didnt watch their BB season so I dont know him but he gives off a creep vibe to me with her…

As a huge fan of Britney the second episode was a bummer but not surprising. I kept waiting for Britney to do a solo challenge but she never did, not even once. After the first episode she posted a video “instagram story” on her instagram, which was quite funny, but now her instagram has been taken private, so I guess she must have been taking some flak for making Janelle do every challenge. She hasn’t posted on twitter in a couple years; it just says to check out her instagram stories.

She had been active on social media, including the scary and (thankfully not) heartbreaking story of her first daughter’s cancer, ever since her first BB season back in 2012.

That scene in the train was emblematic of this race. Zen Colin getting everyone to join hands and meditate while that bitch Rachel rolls her eyes at the whole thing. I want her out so bad. She doesn’t deserve the record for most legs completed.

The top four teams were all Amazing Racers while the bottom three were not (except for Rachel). That’s pretty much how it’s been for the whole race.
