You could have a reset when it gets to the Top 3.
Logistically, you can’t have teams days out in front, it would be a nightmare to film and to have the tasks set out and ready to go. It would also be for pretty boring TV if the top team just kept getting farther and farther in front.
I jumped right into episode 3 instead of trying to catch up, and as I was concerned the constant references to BB talk were awful. And that plow challenge was a far cry from the classic “My ox is broken!” challenge. I really hope things improve and they get to racing instead of strategizing.
Wasn’t that the first season where the 3rd place team was a full day behind the winner & runner up? And the Crossroads happens maybe once per season, certainly not every episode. And as Elrond said - there’s no entertainment value in watching teams so far ahead they can’t possibly lose, so bunching is pretty much required for entertainment value.
I choked my way through the first episode, and made it through about 10 minutes of episode 2. No more. I’m done.
In my opinion with all the BB drama it’s just unwatchable. I like to see real people express real emotions at their situations.

While I mostly agree I think the challenges are better this season. Some are a lot of work (which is good IMO).
In the “old days” of the show there were a few points where all teams were back together. It was a built-in feature.
My long time TAR watching buddy (my now adult daughter) and I watched the first episode. We both agreed it was awful, and the fact that every team knows every other team ahead of time really breaks the TAR model. The fact that it’s all callbacks to a terrible show is so much worse. The NJ-examplar brothers were amusing in their ineptitude and would have been fun to watch for a few more episodes, but of course they got bounced immediately. Sadly I’ll probably continue to watch, but more for the schadenfreude.
