The American Coup: 11.9.2020 -

How awful do you have to be for even Betsy DeVos to cut ties with you?

Reality is setting in for some at Parler:

when you’ve lost DeVos annd Parler…

The vile conman who has thrown everyone around him under the bus except for his voters…just threw his voters under the bus.

Is that really a concession? Shouldn’t there be some acknowledgment that he lost and Biden won?

Something I’m surprised I haven’t seen any reporting on—-

Who authorized a massive “STOP THE STEAL” demonstration for January 6th? Is that something Trump can do unilaterally, or did he have to bully several government organizations into agreeing to it?

Because it seems like a recipe for disaster, security-wise. Was there no one able to say - You can have that rally on the 5th or 7th, but not on the sixth? This is an example of how entrenched Trumpism has come inside our government. They need to not just investigate the anemic law enforcement response but the entire event.

They had an event, scheduled outside the Capitol on the day the election was certified, called “STOP THE STEAL” and invited millions of armed protesters to attend. THIS needs to be investigated, and they need to stop acting surprised at what happened.

And they need to look really carefully at every single employee, especially in the law enforcement agencies. I’m betting most of them are Republican, and a large number of Republicans believe the election was fraudulent. I’m not really comfortable with anyone that believes that having in role in keeping our new government safe but I’m not sure how to weed that out.

ok it is not a concession that he lost the election. At least he said he was leaving, I don’t think this is some sort of stall tactic until he figures out another way to stage a coup. But hell, he might talk to Rudy tomorow and change his “mind”

Now they are reporting he is still alive but on life support. Evidently they are waiting for his family to arrive, so the prognosis is not good.

One man was heart attack, one man was stroke, the woman’s fatality is due to being crushed\injured on the steps.

My question:
How long after the WSJ called for him to resign was this released?

Didn’t know that happened. I would have expected them to just say stop lying about fraud and commit to a peacful transiton of power. Kinda doubt Trump cares about WSJ. NY Post, yes, have not seen what they have to say

Here ya go!

IMO the close is the best part:

We know an act of grace by Mr. Trump isn’t likely. In any case this week has probably finished him as a serious political figure. He has cost Republicans the House, the White House, and now the Senate. Worse, he has betrayed his loyal supporters by lying to them about the election and the ability of Congress and Mr. Pence to overturn it. He has refused to accept the basic bargain of democracy, which is to accept the result, win or lose.
It is best for everyone, himself included, if he goes away quietly.

And keep in mind Murdoch owns the WSJ too.

is it time for me to crow a bit? Wrote this back in 2016. And while not all of it has become true, there is still only a limited progressive movement, right now it’s more of a neo-liberal movement, there is much more support for it now than there was then. And we did come very close to being a true fascist state, closer than I thought, but we avoided it at least for now. And we still have to fear it, there are plenty of fascists still in the Repub party (let’s call them what they are, they are not far-right, they are fascist). But Trump has split the Repub party in two and the Democratic party has control of all three houses.

We are going to win in the end

If I could go back, I would change the title considering all the pain and destruction Trump has caused. And I would change the line about “hysterical” reaction, it wasn’t that as it turned out

Actually rich people have never liked Noveaux Riche …

To be perfectly honest, I don’t even believe the “thinks he was cheated” part. I am rather certain he knows he wasn’t cheated. He can’t concede. If he did, he would have to admit that he knew he wasn’t cheated.

I think the opposite. Trump never loses, just ask him. The only possible way he lost was by being cheated. One of his advistors, Navvaro I think, gave him a PPT presentation that cited Trump’s lead in PA on election day, there was a billion to one chance or something like that for Biden to win. This did not of course not take into account mail-in ballots and the “Democrat” counties that had not been counted. But Trump sees billion to one, he beieves it

No, what I saw was some temporary fencing, which the Capitol Police opened up, and waved them in.

Where did he concede there?

That’s his argument, but I don’t buy it. Common sense is against it. He’s been banking on “the people love me” even before he was elected. “I could murder someone on 5th Avenue and they’d still love me,” or something like that. That didn’t mean that he believed murder wasn’t wrong, only that his base wouldn’t believe it was wrong.

If he really thought he was cheated, his efforts would have been directed towards proving he was cheated. Instead, he throws up an array of excuses, ways, and reasons that if it couldn’t be proven that he wasn’t cheated, you couldn’t trust the election. Sure, part of his argument was that “the democrats cheated!” but that was only part. A lot was “If you count the LEGAL VOTES, I won” although he is vague on what a “LEGAL VOTE” is. In 2016, it was votes from Illegal Aliens. In 2020, it also included votes from dead people (all of which voted for Trump), people who had moved, and even votes from American citizens, who voted in good faith, but whose votes should be considered illegal because of legal mumbo jumbo.

No, Trump knows he wasn’t cheated. He, and his advisors, know that. They can’t admit that without admitting to his base that he lied about that. His base loves him because they know he doesn’t lie.

“I concede that Joe Biden refuses to admit that I won by a lot.”
