The American Coup: 11.9.2020 -

I was beginning to wonder when at least some people woke the fuck up and realize they got scammed.

One protester said something like “He said he’ll walk with us, so I thought he was walking with us” Like how fucking stupid can you possibly be – you donated money, spent loads more to fly or drive halfway across the country during a deadly pandemic, and then storm the Capitol to commit federal crimes, and for what? So he can sit at home and watch his trollery in the comforts of his office while raking in the cash? Do these people not feel ashamed at how utterly fucking stupid they are?!

Good thing the holidays are over because the next time the family gets together things will be awkward

They don’t have the brainpower.

You do realize that one of these people was on camera crying, shocked and disappointed that she had been pepper sprayed after breaking into the Capitol building with a mob trying to incite a “revolution” (her word).

And that goes to my thought from yesterday that the Capitol Police may have been undermanned because a number of them called off.

I also suspected that they then turned up at the insurrection.

You give them too much credit to take responsibility for their own actions. It’s all someone else’s fault. Now, they may have just enough capacity to blame Trump here, rather than blame Antifa or BLM or them mean 'ol libruls, but they still will take no personal responsibility for their own actions.

Sidney Powell… y’all think she has $1.3 billion?

The US Ambassador in The Netherlands comments on the events in Washington. Sorry, part of it is in Dutch.

He refuses to comment on Trump (is apparently prohibited by law to do so) but practices bothsideism.
Personally, I am glad he’s back in his own country shortly, he liaised with some extremist parties here. Ironically, he is of Dutch descent (I think even born here).

I’m pretty sure this has been debunked. She had an onion she was rubbing in her eyes so she’d get interviewed and, y’know, FAME![quote=“Cheesesteak, post:2227, topic:925182, full:true”]

It’s the ultimate political platform. A virtual issue with no underlying facts that can be challenged.

This is concerning, but I hope those were just undercover officers embedded in the crowd.

It depends on McConnell, who exerts considerable influence.

Still, there’s little point now.

Fuck that. We need to chase these people back to Hell.

As one person on Twitter put it, “When Hannah Montana’s on stage, do you ask where Miley went?”

This means something!

Is this a joke?

Concur. McConnell knows that, even as outraged as he is, impeachment would sunder the Republican Party beyond repair and make them un-electable (in any reasonably competitive race) for the next 20 years. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s pushing for a 25th Amendment solution or some other alternative that gets Trump off the stage, but he’s not going to imperil his party by having the Republican Senate voting to impeach him with 10-12 days to go.

And I don’t think the Democrats are all that serious either, IMHO. Yeah, it gets them face time and helps charge up their electorate and keep the pressure on the Republicans, but doing this right now would make them look vindictive and moreover, set a precedent for future leaders (and Congresses).

So I do expect that while they will rant, any actions (and some have been started), will be quietly shelved for the next 10 days. That said, if Trump does Trump again…

IMHO as always. YMMV.

No. It’s SOP for law enforcement to assign undercover officers to mingle with any large crowd.

Some of the insurgents referenced the storming of the bastille while breaking into the capital.

The fallout from this will be huge.

Individual one is now looking at murder charges as well as sedition. He is in very serious trouble, self pardoning is not an option.

Before weds. he was in a bit of trouble with the incoming d.o.j… there would have been a bit of back and forth on whether they should go after a former president and what precedent that would set. After weds., there is no back and forth. This can not stand.

As for impeachment at this time there is chatter that there isn’t time for evidence gathering or investigation or hearings. This one is easy.

Video of the rally at the White House, video of the capital, case closed. Everyone who will vote was at the capital, was a witness to the cause of impeachment. Adam schiff could prosecute this with the greatest of ease.

I’m a little confused about the “setting a precedent” issue here. What exactly about indicting Trump would be a bad precedent to set? Do you prefer the idea of setting the precedent that what he has done is just fine, he can keep the launch codes, and we should just carry on as though there’s nothing to see here?
