With apologies to the poor bastards who have already started printing the charts that 3rd grade teachers pin up above their blackboards, I’m just fine with Joe Biden becoming the 47th president of the United States instead of the 46th.
Reps. Pressley, Tlaib, Bowman, Bush, Ocasio-Cortez, and Omar have sent a letter to Congressional leadership urging them to reconvene both chambers and immediately begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump.
25th would not do that, and there isnt enuf time to impeach and convict, and as you can see, there’s not enuf votes anyway.
Beau of the Fifth Column, who has his reporter sources, comments on an article by Politico that Trump had already accepted his loss a couple weeks ago, and that all of this is about branding. A coup attempt, for branding purposes.
I wouldn’t call the storming of the Bastille a coup, either.
There is no reason there isn’t enough time. The issue before was just that the Senate Republicans were nearly unanimous on not convicting.
Just like now. Sure, you will get a few but not enuf.
All fans of Ernie Fosselius are family & friends of mine! How you doin’, brother?
You do know the word is spelled “enough,” right? Spelling it that way comes off like baby talk.
Impeachment and conviction could happen in 24 hours with McConnell and 16 more Republicans on board. That isn’t an impossibility now.
It’s spelled ‘nuff. Excelsior!
Hawley was doing what his constituents wanted. He’s not going anywhere.
I have no read stories where three completely different sources from Hawley’s past have straight up said he is a psychopath, a man completely without conscience or empathy. He’s Patrick Bateman in politics.
An impossibility? No. Likely? I doubt it. A half dozen or more Republicans on board, sure. But getting a dozen and a half will be tough, especially since Trump only has two weeks to go. That’s plenty of cover for even those who privately despise him to blow it off as unnecessary and not have to face the wrath of Trumpist primary challenges.
I’ll be pleased if it works and I think we might get a chance to see. But pessimist that I am, I truly doubt it will. And I don’t think the 25th solution will happen either, even if enough bodies were willing. Strictly speaking he’s not unable to do his job properly because he is physically incapacitated or so mentally gone he’s drooling on the furniture. He’s unwilling and the 25th is silent on having a loathsome personality/narcissistic sociopathy.
There’s also the third route: resignation ala loser/quitter Sarah Palin.
The news here in Europe has a few stories about local foreign-intelligence specialists (in France and Germany for sure, possibly others) advising their governments that, based on information from their American sources, they believe this was a conscious and deliberate attempt at a coup, with collusion involving high-level law-enforcement officials in DC to make the invasion of the capitol building possible.
This isn’t to say Trump was directly involved in the planning. He’s a short-attention-span moron who couldn’t organize a single toothpick into a straight line. But he’s definitely a mafia boss who expresses broad visions to his underlings and expects them to figure out the details. And given his known predilection for reading the history and following the example of Nazi leadership, I suspect this was orchestrated by Stephen Miller. It just smells like something he would put together.
Then, of course, it doesn’t succeed, and Trump runs away, throwing everyone behind him under the bus, as always happens whenever his minions fail to deliver on his wishes.
But the point is, this administration has been a hilariously leaky and insecure operation (note the Borat daughter gaining access to the White House itself on fraudulent journalist credentials), so it’s not surprising at all to learn that European governments have installed secret eavesdroppers to keep an eye on the crazy, dangerous president, and that they would know more about what was really happening in this event than the American press.
Yes. There were several contributing factors but the political context that fueled Trump’s rise was one of them. This is one of those situations where I’m pleased to have been proven right about my early recognition of negative trends, and simultaneously extremely displeased regarding what I was right about.
My only quibble with this fantastic and articulate letter is the word I bolded. “LIES” would have been better.
I love that he made peacock into a verb.
My bold.
You know I love ya, John, but “LYING” would have been better there, too, although, of course, I heartily approve of assholes.
After four years, time to ditch the synonyms.
Hey mom, dis u?
