It is. Very powerful.
This is interesting. If McConnell won’t countenance impeachment before Jan 20th anyway, maybe this is a smart move. Whether or not the Senate votes are ultimately there to impeach, with the Democrats controlling the Senate there could be a more extensive and pardon-proof trial, with time to gather evidence and expose everything illegal that Trump and his family and enablers have done.
I like that. Takes McConnel’s interference right out of the picture, and lets Biden focus on some well needed virus mitigation.
Interesting idea. The product of that investigation could produce a ginormous document on the order of the Warren Commission Report. Describe in detail every illegal, questionable, criminal, felonious act that trump has committed as president. There’s plenty of documentation. I like it.
I was actually thinking how classy it looked.
Is there any Constitutional uncertainty here? Even if the Court holds that the president can self-pardon, it’s clear that does not protect him from impeachment. But I recall that there is some uncertainly over impeachment after he leaves office? Is it true that this would be a trial that he could not protect himself against through self-pardon?
I think those are two different guys. The one climbing around in the gallery wore all black/dark gray with a black hat but no helmet.
Hear, hear. Goddammit. I know these policies won’t win over everyone and would take time to implement and for any resultant improvement in Americans’ lives to manifest. By then the electorate will vote in Republicans to negate everything if the Supreme Court hasn’t already struck it down. If people could just be patient maybe we could get a little improvement or at least try.
It’s interesting to me. He’s literally the last Republican I have ever voted for and I have voted for relatively few. But while I thought the recall of Gray Davis in 2003 was bullshit and voted against him, I was impressed how after that first victory that he seemed to be trying to be bi-partisan. It didn’t hurt that he was from that milieu of moderate pro-business but more or less socially liberal CA Republicans. So I voted for him in 2006 over Angelides - I figured he had earned some benefit of the doubt and I was trying to be a bit less partisan. I had some mild cause to regret that later. I was rather less impressed with his second, full term.
Still Schwarzenegger is the kind of Republican I have no existential issues with. I don’t agree with them overall, but they are at least coming from a place of reasoned thought rather than incurious tribalism or bigotry.
ew, no.
There’s always a Constitutional Amendment.
A Republican Attorneys General group was sending out robocalls encouraging the traitors.
It’s a good start. It gets them in custody while the various DAs sift through evidence to see if something more important sticks, kind of like arresting someone for obstruction of justice while you check to see if you can pin a murder rap on him.
This might get the attention of some of the Republicans supporting this crap:
Perhaps it will catch on.
I hope they don’t stop there. Don’t let them hold fundraisers on their properties or even let them book a room. Airlines should follow suit. Let Cruz hitchhike back to Texas.
I agree.
The article indicates that Blue Cross is following suit.
That’ll leave a mark.
I believe the time for caution passed with Reagan. The Republican goal is single party, absolute rule. It’s the end game of the Reagan revolution. An oligarchy fronted by a moron.
It’s time to take action. I believe Stacey Abrams and others who are striving to broaden the voting base are doing the right thing. I believe a no drama Biden administration will restore governance. I believe Merrick Garland will begin the purge of the militias.
The question is what should the rest of us do to restore America?
That has the stink of Janet Reno to it. More Ruby Ridges or Wacos aren’t going to help the situation.
I know that the letter from Forbes content editor, Randall Lane, has appeared here before but lemme save everyone the trouble of finding it:
It seems that yes, this effort make all those involved pariahs is already starting to bear fruit:
Twitter, reddit and internet in general are all over the guy they believe to be “zip tie guy”. Thay’ve screenshot and google drived lots of his social media to be preserved, and he’s got memes!
I was addressing the topic of what Capitol Police knew and when they knew it.
