The American Coup: 11.9.2020 -

Regarding the Forbes article, I’d take it a step further and apply that standard of truth to conservative media, which is what likely convinced the Trump White House they could get away with their lives. We have to destroy the “alternative facts” information ecosystem.

That picture is great but the real meat is in the Twitter thread; I encourage everyone to read it.

Don’t fuck with nerds or geeks; it won’t end well:

You do know that “dems” don’t get to charge anyone with anything, right? That would be up to, you know, the police and district attorneys, not Nancy Pelosi.

He found that gun and holster too? Assuming we are talking about the white supremacist all in black jumping over the seats.

My apologies if this clip has been posted before; it shows how the mob assaulted police, and appeared to show a clip of an officer being dragged and beaten on the steps of the Capitol. Another officer, wearing a gas mask, was surrounded - protected by some in the mob from others who wanted a piece of him. Just sickening shit.

No it wasn’t. Except in 20-20 hindsight.

It is the job of the intelligence agencies to detect such threats. They failed at that. I don’t know how you could say otherwise. I’m not casting blame or aspersions on any of our intelligence agencies, just saying that they failed in that case.

This is different from 1-6, where there was no reason at all to not see this coming.

Isn’t that the definition of an intelligence failure? If you had something other than 20-20 hindsight, i.e. foresight, then it wasn’t an intelligence failure.

So much for the MAGAts claiming that they are the ones that support the police.

The alternate, and somewhat more cynical, hypothesis being that these companies already got everything they wanted from a Trump administration and now want to curry favor within the Democratic party.

No, the definition of an intelligence failure is something that Intelligence should have known from the data they had, but they failed to recognize or act.

You are really claiming that “unknown unknowns” do not fall under the definition of an intelligence failure?

The job of the intelliegnce services is not just to analyze what falls into their lap, it is to understand what is important, what they need to know, and to go out and discover it.

Yeah, for real.

When I watch these videos, my first thought is 25th Amendment amendment - pronto. The worst thing that could happens is that Trump pardons these animals. Pence and his cabinet need to get to him before he can do that. He’ll be a persona non grata in his own party but that’s what needs to happen.

Does the name Richard Clarke ring any bells? “We failed you.”

Pre 9/11 and the infinite budgets for security that followed, agencies had to fight for every dollar and they jealously guarded their information because whomever broke the big case would benefit in the following budget. So while various agencies pre-9/11 had information that could have stopped it before it happened, there was zero chance of them sharing that information with each other because they did not want that other agency to get the glory and the dollars that would follow. As such, I would not a call it a failure that the system did not do something that it was never designed to do.

Zip-tie guy #2, who said he “found them,” has been identified. Zip-tie guy #1, seen with the holster (gun? taser?) jumping the railing is a different person and has not yet been identified.

Bear in mind that the only thing that’s ever on Trump’s agenda is himself. He does have something to gain from pardoning them, because it might embolden others to create the chaos that he craves; and it might counter the notion that he betrayed them after encouraging them. But pardoning them would create such outrage that it might the last straw in the political calculus of whether to impeach him.

It could go either way, but I don’t think it’s certain that he will try to pardon them if he’s not kicked out.

One is a retired USAF officer and the other (the really scary looking one) is a bartender who took his mommy to the revolution.

Schwartzenegger will be 77 when the next election rolls around. Really, it’s been too many old guys. I’m not really sure Joe Biden is up to it, but at least he’s not Donald Trump.

Come on, let’s not start with this kind of negative campaigning.
